CEO Shelley Savage will discuss how CardioThrive’s pocket-size automated external defibrillator provides a life-saving shock within the critical first few minutes of an SCA
Cardiovascular diseases are the No. 1 cause of death worldwide each year. In the U.S. alone, over 1,000 people die of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) each day.
CardioThrive was founded to increase the SCA survival rate from the current average of about 5 percent to over 50 percent. At the Emerging MedTech Summit, CEO Shelley Savage will discuss how CardioThrive has developed a pocket-size automated external defibrillator (AED). By making AEDs as portable as a smartphone, these breakthrough devices dramatically increase the likelihood that people at risk of SCA will receive a life-saving defibrillation shock within the highly critical 3 to 4 minute window following the onset of SCA.
CardioThrive received Frost & Sullivan’s 2015 Enabling Technology Leadership Award. Its FDA Class III AEDs are currently in the pre-clinical stage.
“CardioThrive transforms SCA into a survivable and manageable event,” Frost & Sullivan said in its award presentation. “The company has adopted an advanced approach to external defibrillation by miniaturizing the equipment into both an ultra-portable form, and also into a very compact wearable form” (Smaller than the current products available in the market).
“The company’s concentrated and targeted approach is set to provide long-term sustainable differentiation in treatment for patients, clinicians, and investors. Frost & Sullivan is extremely impressed with CardioThrive's visionary approach to AEDs.”
The Emerging MedTech Summit will be held February 18-20 at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Beach, CA. on Wednesday, February 19 at 10:50 a.m. in the main Ballroom. For more information about the Emerging MedTech Summit, visit https://www.lifesciencemarketresearch.com/medtech-summit.
