Cannabis Compound CBD Acts as Helper to Boost Antibiotic Effectiveness, Study Shows

Studies by a University of Southern Denmark team have found that the cannabidiol (CBD) compound from the cannabis plant may act as a helper to boost the effectiveness of antibiotics against drug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. The team’s reported study found that combining CBD with the antibiotic bacitracin against Staphylococcus aureus disrupted cell membrane stability cell morphology and cell division, and reduced expression of key cell division and autolysis genes.
