Summary of "Per-oral Endoscopic Myotomy in Children- First Experience with a New Triangular Knife."

Per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) is a novel treatment modality for achalasia cardia (AC). The procedure is technically challenging and time consuming. Recently, a new triangle knife (TTJ) has been introduced which is equipped with water jet facility. In this study, we analysed the feasibility, safety and efficacy of POEM in children with new triangle tip knife.

Valuing innovative endoscopic techniques: per-oral endoscopic myotomy for the management of achalasia.

Unclear reimbursement for new and innovative endoscopic procedures can limit adoption in clinical practice despite effectiveness in clinical trials. The aim of this study was to determine maximum cost...

Clinical and endoscopic predictors for intraprocedural mucosal injury during per-oral endoscopic myotomy.

Mucosal injury (MI) is one of the most common perioperative adverse events of per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM). Severe undertreated MI may lead to contamination of the tunnel and even mediastinitis....

Myotomy length informed by high-resolution esophageal manometry (HREM) results in improved per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) outcomes for type III achalasia.

High-resolution esophageal manometry (HREM) is essential in characterizing achalasia subtype and the extent of affected segment to plan the myotomy starting point during per-oral endoscopic myotomy (P...

Effects of preoperative endoscopic pneumatic balloon dilatation on postoperative achalasia symptoms after Heller esophageal myotomy plus Dor fundoplication.

Currently, forceful endoscopic pneumatic balloon dilatation (PBD), laparoscopic Heller myotomy (LHM) with or without an anti-reflux procedure, and peroral endoscopic myotomy are the preferred treatmen...

Comparison of Flexible Endoscopic Cricopharyngeal Myectomy and Myotomy Approaches for Zenker Diverticulum Repair .

Incision of the cricopharyngeal (CP) muscle with flexible endoscopy is an important approach for Zenker diverticulum (ZD) repair with symptomatic resolution in approximately 90% of cases, but recurren...

POEM: Long vs Short Myotomy for Achalasia. RCT

Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) is increasingly used for the treatment of achalasia. In published series, a 12cm-POEM is usually performed. Surgical myotomy is typically shorter (8cm). ...

Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy for Esophageal Swallowing Disorders

The purpose of this study is to show that the Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) procedure is an effective treatment for people with achalasia.

Endoscopic Peroral Myotomy for Treatment of Achalasia

This study intends to investigate the feasibility, safety and efficacy of peroral endoscopic myotomy for the treatment of achalasia in a multi center setting.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Fibrocartilage that makes up the triangular fibrocartilage complex which is found in the WRIST JOINT.

Fiberoptic endoscopy designed for duodenal observation and cannulation of VATER'S AMPULLA, in order to visualize the pancreatic and biliary duct system by retrograde injection of contrast media. Endoscopic (Vater) papillotomy (SPHINCTEROTOMY, ENDOSCOPIC) may be performed during this procedure.

Incision of Oddi's sphincter or Vater's ampulla performed by inserting a sphincterotome through an endoscope (DUODENOSCOPE) often following retrograde cholangiography (CHOLANGIOPANCREATOGRAPHY, ENDOSCOPIC RETROGRADE). Endoscopic treatment by sphincterotomy is the preferred method of treatment for patients with retained or recurrent bile duct stones post-cholecystectomy, and for poor-surgical-risk patients that have the gallbladder still present.

A specialized form of transanal endoscopic surgery for microscopically controlled operations in the RECTUM.
