Summary of "Shorter dialysis session length was not associated with lower mental health and physical functioning in elderly hemodialysis patients: Results from the Japan Dialysis Outcome and Practice Patterns Study (J-DOPPS)."

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is often prioritized over long-term survival in elderly patients. Although a longer dialysis session length (DSL) has been shown to reduce mortality, its effects on improving the HRQOL are unknown.

Common mental disorders and association with telomere length.

Telomeres are repeated 5'-TTAGGG-3' sequences at the end of chromosomes, which maintain genomic stability. Their length is related to a number of diseases that affect humans. Apart from cancer, cardio...

A novel inverse association between cord 25-hydroxyvitamin D and leg length in boys up to three years. An Odense Child Cohort study.

Long standing vitamin D deficiency in children causes rickets with growth impairment. We investigated whether sub-ischial leg length (SLL) is shorter, and cephalo-caudal length:length (CCL:L) ratio an...

Study on Dialysis Session Length and Mortality in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: The Q-Cohort Study.

Hemodialysis (HD) time has been recognized as an important factor in dialysis adequacy. However, few studies have reported on associations between HD time and prognosis among maintenance HD patients. ...

Peritoneal Dialysis in Elderly Patients.

Dialysis is now often being initiated in older patients. In Japan, patients are around 69 years of age on initiation of dialysis. The total dialysis population undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD) stan...

Effectiveness of Influenza Vaccine in Hemodialyzed Patients: A Retrospective Study.

Infection is one of the leading causes of mortality in dialysis patients, second only to cardiovascular disease. This retrospective study assessed the efficacy and clinical outcomes of influenza vacci...
