Summary of "Shorter dialysis session length was not associated with lower mental health and physical functioning in elderly hemodialysis patients: Results from the Japan Dialysis Outcome and Practice Patterns Study (J-DOPPS)."

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is often prioritized over long-term survival in elderly patients. Although a longer dialysis session length (DSL) has been shown to reduce mortality, its effects on improving the HRQOL are unknown.

Infant HPA axis as a potential mechanism linking maternal mental health and infant telomere length.

Maternal depression has been suggested to be an independent risk factor for both dysregulated hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) functioning and shorter telomere length in offspring. In contras...

Cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita and major lower limb asymmetry.

A 39-week-old male newborn presented at birth with atrophic erythematous and purpuric skin lesions, in a typical right-sided segmental distribution. Lesions were persistent and unaffected by rewarming...

Altered intrinsic brain activity and memory performance improvement in patients with end-stage renal disease during a single dialysis session.

Memory deficits are considered to have a great influence on self-management, dietary restriction and therapeutic regimen for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients with dialysis treatment. This study...

Common mental disorders and association with telomere length.

Telomeres are repeated 5'-TTAGGG-3' sequences at the end of chromosomes, which maintain genomic stability. Their length is related to a number of diseases that affect humans. Apart from cancer, cardio...

Characteristics and Prognosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Japanese Patients Undergoing Dialysis.

Patients with end-stage renal disease who are undergoing dialysis may be at high risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We investigated the characteristics and prognosis of HCC in patients...

A Study to Evaluate Daptomycin Given During Dialysis and After Dialysis

The purpose of this study is to determine whether daptomycin at a higher dose given during the last 30 minutes of a dialysis session is equal to a lower dose of daptomycin given after a di...

Head Out Water Immersion for Hemodynamic Stability During Dialysis

Immersion to the neck before and during hemodialysis session may increase intravascular volume, potentiate the ability to ultrafiltrate excess water, with less symptoms of shock, muscle cr...

Study to Assess the Efficacy of Direct Observation and Mental Visualization of Foot Movements to Treat Bilateral Lower Limb Phantom Limb Pain

Because bilateral lower extremity amputees do not have an intact limb for use with the mirror, we are now proposing to conduct a pilot trial of two treatments for PLP - direct observation ...

The Use of Low Molecular Weight Heparin in Hemodiafiltration

Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is injected in the dialysis circuit at the start of the session. In the present study we compare 3 different methods of injection of LMWH: parameters of...

Creation and Validation of a Questionnaire to Measure the Feelings of a Chronic Renal Insufficiency Person During His Hemodialysis

Chronic Hemodialysis is a treatment for kidney failure. It involves the construction of three treatment sessions per week extrarenal lasting 4 hours each. This treatment is necessary but i...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Therapy for the insufficient cleansing of the BLOOD by the kidneys based on dialysis and including hemodialysis, PERITONEAL DIALYSIS, and HEMODIAFILTRATION.

Short RNA, about 200 base pairs in length or shorter, that does not code for protein.

Portable peritoneal dialysis using the continuous (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) presence of peritoneal dialysis solution in the peritoneal cavity except for periods of drainage and instillation of fresh solution.

Dialysis fluid being introduced into and removed from the peritoneal cavity as either a continuous or an intermittent procedure.
