Rare case of squamous cell carcinoma arising in a recurrent ovarian mature cystic teratoma of a young woman: A case report and review of the literature.

Malignant transformations of ovarian mature cystic teratomas (MCTs) occur rarely, especially in young women. Although it is extremely difficult to diagnose them, serum tumor marker level testing in co...

Acute regrowth and dissemination of a mature spinal cord teratoma after partial resection.

A 23-year-old man presented with difficulty walking and leg pain and numbness. MRI revealed a cystic mass at Th11-12 and a pineal-region tumour. The patient underwent surgery to resect the thoracic-le...

Mediastinal mature teratoma perforating the right lung that was successfully resected with complete thoracoscopic surgery: A case report.

A perforating mediastinal mature teratoma can cause severe inflammation and adhesion; therefore, open surgery is usually performed. Asymptomatic perforation involving a teratoma is very rare. Complete...

Advances in the molecular mechanisms of perineural invasion in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma.

Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma is a very common malignant neoplasm in the salivary glands. One of the most important features of salivary cystic carcinoma is perineural invasion, which renders its ...

Immune checkpoint inhibitors of CTLA4 and PD-1 for malignant melanoma arising in ovarian cystic teratoma: A case report.

Malignant melanoma (MM) arising in ovarian cystic teratoma (OCT) is a rare disease with poor prognosis. Recently, immune checkpoint inhibitors of cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA4) an...

Anterior Mediastinum Teratoma: A Case Report

The investigators report a case of a 39-year-old man who presented an anterior mediastinal cystic mature teratoma. Those kind of tumor contain elements derived from more than one of the th...

Prospective Surveillance for Very Early Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hepatocellular carcinoma is one the leading cause of increasing cancer-specific mortality worldwide. Early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma provides opportunity for curative therapeut...

Biomarker Analyses in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) Patients Treated With TheraSphere®

To analyze specific angiogenic, inflammatory and immune profiles in hepatocellular carcinoma patients who undergo radioembolization.

Study of RAD001 in Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma

- Although mTOR is clearly an attractive therapeutic target in tumor, no clinical study on mTOR inhibition by RAD001 has been systematically conducted in adenoid cystic carcinom...

Temsirolimus and Sorafenib in Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

This is a Phase I study, which means that the goal is to see if the combination of Temsirolimus and Sorafenib is safe in patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Sorafenib is a standard tre...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A malignant neoplasm consisting of elements of teratoma with those of embryonal carcinoma or choriocarcinoma, or both. It occurs most often in the testis. (Dorland, 27th ed)

A true neoplasm composed of a number of different types of tissue, none of which is native to the area in which it occurs. It is composed of tissues that are derived from three germinal layers, the endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm. They are classified histologically as mature (benign) or immature (malignant). (From DeVita Jr et al., Cancer: Principles & Practice of Oncology, 3d ed, p1642)

An ORTHOHEPADNAVIRUS causing chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma in woodchucks. It closely resembles the human hepatitis B virus.

The type species of the genus ORTHOHEPADNAVIRUS which causes human HEPATITIS B and is also apparently a causal agent in human HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA. The Dane particle is an intact hepatitis virion, named after its discoverer. Non-infectious spherical and tubular particles are also seen in the serum.

The first alpha-globulins to appear in mammalian sera during development of the embryo and the dominant serum proteins in early embryonic life. They reappear in the adult serum during certain pathologic states, primarily hepatocellular carcinoma. They may also be elevated in the amniotic fluid and maternal serum during pregnancy in ANENCEPHALY.
