Summary of "Clinical and dosimetric study of radiotherapy for glioblastoma: three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy versus intensity-modulated radiotherapy."

We aimed to compare three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) for the treatment of glioblastoma.

Intensity-modulated radiotherapy versus three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy in rectal cancer treated with neoadjuvant concurrent chemoradiation: a meta-analysis and pooled-analysis of acute toxicity.

To compare the acute gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicity profiles between intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) in rectal cance...

Dosimetric comparison of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy versus volumetric-arc radiotherapy in cervical cancer treatment: applying the central-shielding principle to modern technology.

This study evaluated the feasibility of applying volumetric-arc radiotherapy (VMAT) in standard curative radiotherapy for non-bulky cervical cancer using the central-shielding principle. Whole-pelvis ...

Interim Results of a Phase II Study of Hypofractionated Radiotherapy with Concurrent Temozolomide Followed by Adjuvant Temozolomide in Patients over 70 Years Old with Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma.

In this phase II study, we investigate clinical outcomes and tolerability of hypofractionated radiotherapy (HRT) combined with temozolomide (TMZ) to treat elderly patients with glioblastoma (GBM).

Patterns of Care and Outcomes of Hypofractionated Chemoradiation Versus Conventionally Fractionated Chemoradiation for Glioblastoma in the Elderly Population.

This study evaluated practice patterns, outcomes, and predictors of survival for elderly patients with glioblastoma (GBM) receiving definitive chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with either hypofractionated radi...

EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF DOSIMETRIC CHARACTERIZATION OF GAFCHROMIC EBT3 AND EBT-XD FILMS FOR CLINICAL CARBON ION BEAMS.

Radiochromic film is a very useful tool for 2D dosimetric measurements in radiotherapy because it is self-developing and has very high-spatial resolution. However, considerable care has to be taken in...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

CONFORMAL RADIOTHERAPY that combines several intensity-modulated beams to provide improved dose homogeneity and highly conformal dose distributions.

Radiotherapy where there is improved dose homogeneity within the tumor and reduced dosage to uninvolved structures. The precise shaping of dose distribution is achieved via the use of computer-controlled multileaf collimators.

A work that reports on the results of a research study to evaluate interventions or exposures on biomedical or health-related outcomes. The two main types of clinical studies are interventional studies (clinical trials) and observational studies. While most clinical studies concern humans, this publication type may be used for clinical veterinary articles meeting the requisites for humans.

Radiotherapy given to augment some other form of treatment such as surgery or chemotherapy. Adjuvant radiotherapy is commonly used in the therapy of cancer and can be administered before or after the primary treatment.

Echocardiography amplified by the addition of depth to the conventional two-dimensional ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY visualizing only the length and width of the heart. Three-dimensional ultrasound imaging was first described in 1961 but its application to echocardiography did not take place until 1974. (Mayo Clin Proc 1993;68:221-40)
