Differential expression of various clones of estrogen receptor in cell block preparation of lung adenocarcinoma.

Summary of "Differential expression of various clones of estrogen receptor in cell block preparation of lung adenocarcinoma."

Women treated for breast cancer are at increased risk of developing pulmonary nodules which could represent new primary lung carcinomas or metastatic breast carcinoma. The FNA biopsy is frequently the first diagnostic choice in determining the primary site of the tumor. Estrogen receptor (ER) positivity in diagnostic tissue is generally used to favor breast over lung primary. However, the recent studies have shown a wide range of ER antibody cross reactivity with lung adenocarcinoma. We studied the frequency of ER expression in cytology samples of lung adenocarcinoma using antibodies to three different ER clones.

A cell-permeable stapled peptide inhibitor of the estrogen receptor/coactivator interaction.

We and others have proposed that coactivator binding inhibitors, which block the interaction of estrogen receptor and steroid receptor coactivators, may represent a potential class of new breast cance...

Role of miR-203 in Estrogen Receptor-Mediated Signaling in the Rat Uterus and Endometrial Carcinoma.

The role of microRNAs (miRNA) in estrogen receptor (ER) signaling in the uterus and in endometrial cancer is not well understood. We therefore analyzed miRNA expression in uterine samples from a stand...

Genistein modulates the estrogen receptor and suppresses angiogenesis and inflammation in the murine model of peritoneal endometriosis.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of genistein administration on the modulation of the estrogen receptor, inhibition of inflammation and angiogenesis in the murine model of perit...

Estrogen receptor activation contributes to RNF146 expression and neuroprotection in Parkinson's disease models.

RNF146 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that specifically recognizes and polyubiquitinates poly (ADP-ribose) (PAR)-conjugated substrates for proteasomal degradation. RNF146 has been shown to be neuroprotecti...

Mutations in the Estrogen Receptor Alpha Hormone Binding Domain Promote Stem Cell Phenotype through Notch Activation in Breast Cancer Cell Lines.

The detection of recurrent mutations affecting the hormone binding domain (HBD) of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα/ESR1) in endocrine therapy-resistant and metastatic breast cancers has prompted interes...

Treatment of Metastatic Melanoma With Autologous Melan-A/MART-1 Specific CTL Clones

Most of HLA-A2 melanomas express Melan-A/MART-1 antigen and are recognized by tumor reactive Melan-A specific T lymphocytes. By using blood samples from HLA-A2 melanoma patients (stage III...

Tamoxifen Citrate in Treating Premenopausal Women With Estrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer

This randomized clinical trial studies tamoxifen citrate in treating premenopausal women with estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer. Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

One of the ESTROGEN RECEPTORS that has marked affinity for ESTRADIOL. Its expression and function differs from, and in some ways opposes, ESTROGEN RECEPTOR BETA.

Compounds and drugs that bind to and block or inhibit the activation of ESTROGEN RECEPTORS.

One of the SELECTIVE ESTROGEN RECEPTOR MODULATORS with tissue-specific activities. Tamoxifen acts as an anti-estrogen (inhibiting agent) in the mammary tissue, but as an estrogen (stimulating agent) in cholesterol metabolism, bone density, and cell proliferation in the ENDOMETRIUM.

One of the ESTROGEN RECEPTORS that has greater affinity for ISOFLAVONES than ESTROGEN RECEPTOR ALPHA does. There is great sequence homology with ER alpha in the DNA-binding domain but not in the ligand binding and hinge domains.

A second generation selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It has estrogen agonist effects on bone and cholesterol metabolism but behaves as a complete estrogen antagonist on mammary gland and uterine tissue.
