Pathogenic infections caused by Porphyromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola, and Tannerella forsythia can result in the production of volatile sulfur compounds (VSC's) and other toxic compounds from methionine catabolism that can lead to halitosis and periodontitis. Our aim is to block the activity of methionine gammalyase-deaminase (Mgld) of methionine catabolism to prevent halitosis/periodontitis.

Periodontitis is a microbe-induced chronic inflammatory disease. Previous exposure of the host to bacteria or their virulence factors leads to refractory responses to further stimuli, which is called ...
Antimicrobial-tolerant microbial persisters critically account for various infections and inflammation. This study identified the characteristics of Porphyromonas gingivalis persisters, and explored t...
The presence of a biofilm-associated gingival inflammation in patients having juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus (jSLE) might function as a reservoir of anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria such as Por...
The inhibition of α-, β-, γ-, and δ-class carbonic anhydrases (CAs, EC 184.108.40.206) from bacteria (Vibrio cholerae and Porphyromonas gingivalis) and diatoms (Thalassiosira weissflogii) with a panel of...
The present study was undertaken to assess the inhibitory effect of guava extracts on Porphyromonas gingivalis and Aggregatibacteractinomycetemcomitans, to assess the time-kill curve of P. gingivalis ...
Periodontitis (PD) has been postulated to be a risk factor for the onset and progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Recent reports suggest that infection with Porphyromonas gingivalis ...
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most frequent joint inflammatory disease inducing joint destruction strongly correlated with anti-citrullinated protein antibodies citrullinated anti-pepti...
Periodontitis and Rhematoid arthritis are chronic inflammatory diseases which share common risk factors The purpose of this study is to determine if Pentraxin 3 and Porphyromonas Gingival...
The objective of the study was to evaluate the levels of Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) and the presence of red complex microorg...
Patients visiting National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology for treating periodontitis used a food supplement (lozenge) containing chicken egg antibody (IgY) against Porphyromonas gingivalis...
A species of gram-negative, anaerobic, rod-shaped bacteria originally classified within the BACTEROIDES genus. This bacterium produces a cell-bound, oxygen-sensitive collagenase and is isolated from the human mouth.
A species of gram-negative bacteria in the genus PORPHYROMONAS, family Porphyromonadaceae. It is a key pathogen in endodontic infections.
A preparation of METHIONINE that includes a mixture of D-methionine and L-methionine isomers.
A stable synthetic analog of methionine enkephalin (ENKEPHALIN, METHIONINE). Actions are similar to those of methionine enkephalin. Its effects can be reversed by narcotic antagonists such as naloxone.
Drugs that inhibit ADENOSINE DEAMINASE activity.
