Spectrum effect and spectrum bias in the oscillometric ankle brachial index to diagnose peripheral arterial disease: Clinical implications.

Summary of "Spectrum effect and spectrum bias in the oscillometric ankle brachial index to diagnose peripheral arterial disease: Clinical implications."

The diagnostic performance of the oscillometric ankle brachial index (ABI) to detect peripheral arterial disease (PAD) varies among populations, suggesting a spectrum effect. When this heterogeneity modifies post-test probabilities, a spectrum bias arises. This study evaluates the presence and influence of spectrum effect and spectrum bias on test performance and clinical decisions.

Post-exercise ankle blood pressure and ankle to brachial index after heavy load bicycle exercise.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommendations for diagnosing peripheral artery disease (PAD) after exercise are a decrease > 20% of ankle brachial index (ABI) or > 30 mmHg of ankle systolic blo...

Long-term effects of air pollution on ankle-brachial index.

Ankle-brachial index (ABI) has been linked to the risk of cardiovascular events. However, the association between long-term exposure to air pollution and abnormal ABI has not been fully investigated.

The Impact of Perioperative Ankle-Brachial Index and Clinical Status on Outcomes Following Lower Extremity Bypass.

Ankle-brachial index (ABI) is a common method of graft surveillance after infrainguinal bypass surgery (LEB), and is recommended by the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS). Several studies failed to sh...

Relationships between chronic comorbidities and the atherosclerosis indicators ankle-brachial index and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

This study aimed to determine associations between ankle-brachial index (ABI) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) with different comorbidities in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM)...

Comparison of the Ankle-Brachial Index Measurement Using a Specific Oscillometric Device vs. the Doppler Method

Several methods are available to measure ankle brachial index (ABI) non-invasively. A recent scientific statement of the AHA considers the Doppler method as the reference. However because ...

Lack of perfusion in the EXTREMITIES resulting from atherosclerosis. It is characterized by INTERMITTENT CLAUDICATION, and an ANKLE BRACHIAL INDEX of 0.9 or less.

A broad-spectrum spectrum antineoplastic antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces refuineus var. thermotolerans. It has low toxicity, some activity against Trichomonas and Endamoeba, and inhibits RNA and DNA synthesis. It binds irreversibly to DNA.

A technique used to measure the rate of physiological activity plotted against wavelength of light. An action spectrum depicts the most effective wavelength of light (also known as spectral sensitivity) that is required for each specific process.
