Evolution of root apical meristem structures in vascular plants: plasmodesmatal networks.

The apical meristem generates indeterminate apical growth of the stem and root of vascular plants. Our previous examination showed that shoot apical meristems (SAMs) can be classified into two types b...

Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: what are the risks in our diverse military population?

We present the case of a 50-year-old, fit, asymptomatic gurkha officer. At a routine medical, an ECG showed T-wave inversion in the chest leads V3-6. Transthoracic echo showed left ventricular apical ...

Etiologic role of root canal infection in apical periodontitis and its relationship with clinical symptomatology.

Evidence shows the polymicrobial etiology of endodontic infections, in which bacteria and their products are the main agents for the development, progression, and dissemination of apical periodontitis...

Conditioned fear stress increases bone resorption in apical periodontitislesions in Wistar male rats.

Because the impact of conditioned fear stress on apical bone resorption is unknown, the aim of the current studywas to use a rat model to evaluate the impact of conditioned fear stress on the bone res...

Rab17 Regulates apical delivery of hepatic transcytotic vesicles.

A major focus for our laboratory is identifying the molecules and mechanisms that regulate basolateral-to-apical transcytosis in polarized hepatocytes. Our most recent studies have focused on characte...

Effect of Apical Patency on Success of Root Canal Treatment in Non Vital Teeth

Maintaining Apical patency during root canal treatment is a widely followed methodology in modern endodontic treatment protocols. It involves passing of a small #08 or #10 K file through t...

Etiology of Early Apical Peri-implantitis

A case-control study was performed was performed following the STROBE statement from 1996 to 2016 including patients who were diagnosed with early apical peri-implantitis. Data were collec...

Right Ventricular Defibrillation Lead Select Site Study

This study will compare single coil right ventricular defibrillation leads for implanted cardioverter/defibrillators (ICDs) in the apical and high septal locations. It is hypothesized tha...

Personality Profile of Patients With Apical Ballooning Syndrome

The investigators' hypothesis is that patients with apical ballooning syndrome (ABS) will manifest a personality profile that differs than that of a population of similar range of ethnic a...

Effect of Intraorifice Barrier on Healing of Apical Periodontitis

Based on various in-vitro studies intraorifice barrier has been suggested as an effective mean to provide seal against coronal microleakage. This study intends to clinically investigate ef...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A congenital heart defect characterized by downward or apical displacement of the TRICUSPID VALVE, usually with the septal and posterior leaflets being attached to the wall of the RIGHT VENTRICLE. It is characterized by a huge RIGHT ATRIUM and a small and less effective right ventricle.

Sensory cells in the organ of Corti, characterized by their apical stereocilia (hair-like projections). The inner and outer hair cells, as defined by their proximity to the core of spongy bone (the modiolus), change morphologically along the cochlea. Towards the cochlear apex, the length of hair cell bodies and their apical stereocilia increase, allowing differential responses to various frequencies of sound.

A transient left ventricular apical dysfunction or ballooning accompanied by electrocardiographic (ECG) T wave inversions. This abnormality is associated with high levels of CATECHOLAMINES, either administered or endogenously secreted from tumor or during extreme stress.

Absence of the orifice between the RIGHT ATRIUM and RIGHT VENTRICLE, with the presence of an atrial defect through which all the systemic venous return reaches the left heart. As a result, there is left ventricular hypertrophy (HYPERTROPHY, LEFT VENTRICULAR) because the right ventricle is absent or not functional.

The valve between the left ventricle and the ascending aorta which prevents backflow into the left ventricle.
