Smaller medial temporal lobe volumes in individuals with subjective cognitive decline and biomarker evidence of Alzheimer's disease-Data from three memory clinic studies.

Previous studies showed associations of brain volume differences and biomarker evidence for Alzheimer's disease (AD) in subjective cognitive decline (SCD). The consistency of this finding across SCD s...

Outcomes stenting of versus endarterectomy for symptomatic extracranial carotid stenosis: A retrospective multi-center study in Korea.

The present multi-center retrospective study aimed to compare the outcome of carotid artery stenting (CAS) versus carotid endarterectomy (CEA) among Korean patients with symptomatic extracranial carot...

Plasma neurofilament light as a potential biomarker of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease.

A growing body of evidence suggests that the plasma concentration of the neurofilament light chain (NfL) might be considered a plasma biomarker for the screening of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's di...

The Distribution of Urinary Alzheimer-Associated Neuronal Thread Protein and Its Association with Common Chronic Diseases in the General Population.

Alzheimer-associated neuronal thread protein (AD7c-NTP) has been found to be a biomarker for Alzheimer's disease (AD).

A Study to Evaluate dASL Imaging as a Biomarker for Alzheimer's Disease

This study will assess the suitability of regional cerebral blood flow measured by dynamic arterial spin labeling as a biomarker for Alzheimer's disease

Blood Biomarker of Alzheimer's Disease (AD)

Currently, no cures or disease modifying therapies exist for Alzheimer's disease (AD). This is partially due to the inability to detect the disease before it has progressed to a stage wher...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Studies used to test etiologic hypotheses in which inferences about an exposure to putative causal factors are derived from data relating to characteristics of persons under study or to events or experiences in their past. The essential feature is that some of the persons under study have the disease or outcome of interest and their characteristics are compared with those of unaffected persons.

Impaired ambulation not attributed to sensory impairment or motor weakness. FRONTAL LOBE disorders; BASAL GANGLIA DISEASES (e.g., PARKINSONIAN DISORDERS); DEMENTIA, MULTI-INFARCT; ALZHEIMER DISEASE; and other conditions may be associated with gait apraxia.

Abnormal structures located chiefly in distal dendrites and, along with NEUROFIBRILLARY TANGLES and SENILE PLAQUES, constitute the three morphological hallmarks of ALZHEIMER DISEASE. Neuropil threads are made up of straight and paired helical filaments which consist of abnormally phosphorylated microtubule-associated tau proteins. It has been suggested that the threads have a major role in the cognitive impairment seen in Alzheimer disease.

Vaccines or candidate vaccines used to prevent or treat ALZHEIMER DISEASE.

A progressive form of dementia characterized by the global loss of language abilities and initial preservation of other cognitive functions. Fluent and nonfluent subtypes have been described. Eventually a pattern of global cognitive dysfunction, similar to ALZHEIMER DISEASE, emerges. Pathologically, there are no Alzheimer or PICK DISEASE like changes, however, spongiform changes of cortical layers II and III are present in the TEMPORAL LOBE and FRONTAL LOBE.
