Summary of "Loading of doxorubicin and thymoquinone with F2 gel nanofibers improves the antitumor activity and ameliorates doxorubicin-associated nephrotoxicity."

This study aimed to elucidate the benefits of nanoformulation of doxorubicin (DOX) and thymoquinone (TQ) loaded with nanofibers of poly-N-acetyl glucosamine (pGlcNAc), which is known as F2 gel, over their conventional free forms. Moreover, evaluate the role of TQ in improving chemotherapeutic effect and ameliorating nephrotoxicity of DOX.

A new series of non-carboxylic naproxen analogues, bearing a variety of ring systems, such as oxadiazoles 3a-c and 6a-c, cycloalkanes 4a-d, cyclic imides 5a-c, and triazoles 7-9 and 10a-c, was synthes...

Encapsulation and immobilization of ficin extract in electrospun polymeric nanofibers.

In this work, ficin extract (3.4.22.3, >1.0 u/mg) was immobilized for the first time in poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) electrospun nanofibers in order to preserve its tridimensional molecular structure....

Immobilization of horseradish peroxidase on electrospun magnetic nanofibers for phenol removal.

In this study, FeO/polyacrylonitrile (PAN) magnetic nanofibers (MNFs) were fabricated by electrospinning method to immobilize the horseradish peroxidase (HRP), making which a complex platform for phen...

Antitumor activity of Se-containing tea polysaccharides against sarcoma 180 and comparison with regular tea polysaccharides and Se-yeast.

Selenium (Se)-containing polysaccharide, a Se-conjugate macromolecule, generally exhibited higher antitumor activity than its regular polysaccharide. Previously, we extracted Se-containing tea polysac...

Peptide-Templated-Synthesis of TiO₂ Nanofibers with Tunable Photocatalytic Activity.

Nanofabrication based on biological templates has attracted considerable interests because of its applications in materials science and biomedicine. We report a facile method for the synthesis of well...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

An anthracycline which is the 4'-epi-isomer of doxorubicin. The compound exerts its antitumor effects by interference with the synthesis and function of DNA.

In vivo methods of screening investigative anticancer drugs, biologic response modifiers or radiotherapies. Human tumor tissue or cells are transplanted into mice or rats followed by tumor treatment regimens. A variety of outcomes are monitored to assess antitumor effectiveness.

Antineoplastic antibiotic obtained from Streptomyces peucetius. It is a hydroxy derivative of DAUNORUBICIN.

A selective beta-1-adrenergic partial agonist. Because it is a partial agonist (DRUG PARTIAL AGONISM) it acts like an agonist when sympathetic activity is low and as an antagonist when sympathetic activity is high. It reduces MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA and improves ventricular function in patients with mild to moderate heart failure. In patients with severe heart failure it has been shown to produce benefits in systolic and diastolic function.

An alkaloid isolated from the stem wood of the Chinese tree, Camptotheca acuminata. This compound selectively inhibits the nuclear enzyme DNA TOPOISOMERASES, TYPE I. Several semisynthetic analogs of camptothecin have demonstrated antitumor activity.
