Summary of "Has anatomic complexity of abdominal aortic aneurysms undergoing open surgical repair, changed after the introduction of endovascular treatment? Systematic review and metanalysis of comparative studies."

At a time when endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is increasingly used to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs), lesions undergoing open surgical repair (OSR) may present significant differences compared to those treated before wide EVAR availability. We aim to record discrepancies in AAAs surgically treated before and after the introduction of EVAR.

One-year outcomes after ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms repair: is evar the best choice? A single-center experience.

Treatment of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (rAAAs) is still burdened by high morbidity and mortality. Although endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) offers encouraging results in elective setting, i...

A Study of the Cost-effectiveness of Fenestrated/branched EVAR Compared with Open Surgery for Patients with Complex Aortic Aneurysms at 2 Years.

The aim was to assess the cost-effectiveness of fenestrated and branched stent grafts (f/b EVAR) compared with open surgical repair (OSR) in thoraco-abdominal or complex abdominal aortic aneurysms (TA...

Creation of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms in Sheep by Extrapolation of Rodent Models, Is It Feasible?

Open surgical repair of post-dissection thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysms: early and late outcomes of a single-centre study involving over 200 patients.

Chronic, post-dissection thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAAs) are increasingly being treated by (hybrid) endovascular means. Although it is less invasive, thoracic endovascular aortic repair is ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Surgical treatment for severe AORTIC VALVE STENOSIS. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is used as an alternative option in patients who are deemed at high risk or inoperable for traditional open-heart surgery.

An abnormal balloon- or sac-like dilatation in the wall of the ABDOMINAL AORTA which gives rise to the visceral, the parietal, and the terminal (iliac) branches below the aortic hiatus at the diaphragm.

Small masses of chromaffin cells found near the SYMPATHETIC GANGLIA along the ABDOMINAL AORTA, beginning cranial to the superior mesenteric artery (MESENTERIC ARTERY, SUPERIOR) or renal arteries and extending to the level of the aortic bifurcation or just beyond. They are also called the organs of Zuckerkandl and sometimes called aortic bodies (not to be confused with AORTIC BODIES in the THORAX). The para-aortic bodies are the dominant source of CATECHOLAMINES in the FETUS and normally regress after BIRTH.

Surgical removal of excess abdominal skin and fat and tightening of the ABDOMINAL WALL. Abdominoplasty may include LIPECTOMY of INTRA-ABDOMINAL FAT, tightening of the ABDOMINAL MUSCLES, and re-creation of the UMBILICUS.

Methods to repair breaks in abdominal tissues caused by trauma or to close surgical incisions during abdominal surgery.
