Summary of "Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation (BEMER) for the treatment of type I complex regional pain syndrome: A pilot study."

The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation (BEMER) magneto-therapy on pain and functional outcome in complex regional pain syndrome type I (CRPS-I). We hypothesized that BEMER therapy, based on its declared effects on microcirculation, could be beneficial in the treatment of this condition.

A novel electro-coagulation-Fenton for energy efficient cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins removal without chemical addition.

Harmful cyanobacterial bloom is a serious threat to global aquatic ecology and drinking water safety. Electro-Fenton (EF) has emerged as an efficient process for cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins removal,...

Simultaneous electro-oxidation and in situ electro-peroxone process for the degradation of refractory organics in wastewater.

During electro-oxidation (EO) wastewater treatment, the applied voltage must polarize both a dimensionally stable anode with a sufficiently high potential to effectively produce hydroxyl radicals (OH)...

Energy Storage via Topological Spin Textures.

We formulate an energy-storage concept based on the free energy associated with metastable magnetic configurations. Despite the active magnetic region of the battery being electrically insulating, it ...

Magnetic excitations in frustrated fcc type-III antiferromagnet MnS2.

Spin wave dispersion in the frustrated fcc type-III antiferromagnet MnS2 has been determined by inelastic neutron scattering using a triple-axis spectrometer. Existence of multiple spin wave...

Development of nanocomplexes for curcumin vehiculization using ovalbumin and sodium alginate as building blocks: Improved stability, bioaccessibility, and antioxidant activity.

Type I (Complex I) and type II nanocomplexes (Complex II) were created in this work for curcumin (Cur) delivery using ovalbumin (OVA, 1.0% w/w) and sodium alginate (ALG, 0.5% w/w) as building blocks. ...

Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEMF) Treatment in Patients With Treatment-Resistant Major Depression in Ongoing Pharmacological Treatment of Depression

About 30% of patients with major depression are treatment resistant to pharmacological treatment. In the search for new methods to treat depression a great interest has been put into the u...

Combined Sono-electro-magnetic Therapy for Treatment of Refractory Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome

Treatment of chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) is challenging for patients and physicians once conventional therapies fail. We hypothesize that combined sono-electro-magnetic therapy ca...

Effect of 24 h Severe Energy Restriction on Appetite Regulation and Ad-libitum Energy Intake

Long term maintenance of weight loss is generally poor, which is at least partly due to increased feelings of hunger associated with restricting what can be eaten. Intermittent severe ener...

Energy Balance Weight Regulation Study

The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that a low-carbohydrate diet will impact hormones and other factors that regulate appetite and energy balance, and result in lower energ...

Energy Metabolism and Cost of Physical Activities Using Whole Body Calorimeter

The aim of this study is to assess energy regulation of overfeeding and performing common household activities in young Chinese males using whole-body room calorimetry up to 10 hours.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A technique for analysis of the chemical composition of molecules. A substance is bombarded with monochromatic ELECTRONS. Some of the electrons passing through the specimen will lose energy when they ionize inner shell electrons of the atoms in the specimen. The energy loss is element dependent. Analysis of the energy loss spectrum reveals the elemental composition of a specimen. ENERGY-FILTERED TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY is a type of electron energy loss spectroscopy carried out in electron microscopes specially outfitted to analyze the spectrum of electron energy loss.

Electric power supply devices which convert biological energy, such as chemical energy of metabolism or mechanical energy of periodic movements, into electrical energy.

Complexes containing CHLOROPHYLL and other photosensitive molecules. They serve to capture energy in the form of PHOTONS are generally found as components of the PHOTOSYSTEM I PROTEIN COMPLEX or the PHOTOSYSTEM II PROTEIN COMPLEX.

The transfer of energy of a given form among different scales of motion. (From McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 6th ed). It includes the transfer of kinetic energy and the transfer of chemical energy. The transfer of chemical energy from one molecule to another depends on proximity of molecules so it is often used as in techniques to measure distance such as the use of FORSTER RESONANCE ENERGY TRANSFER.

A type of MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING that uses only one nuclear spin excitation per image and therefore can obtain images in a fraction of a second rather than the minutes required in traditional MRI techniques. It is used in a variety of medical and scientific applications.
