Previous trials in adults with impaired immunity and respiratory failure suggest that early noninvasive ventilation avoids endotracheal intubation and improves survival. No randomized clinical trials have addressed this question in children.
This article was published in the following journal.
Non-invasive ventilation is usually adopted as a support to medical therapy in patients with acute pulmonary edema, but which modality between Pressure Support Ventilation (PSV) and Continuous Positiv...
Clinical effect of bubble nasal continuous positive airway pressure versus conventional nasal continuous positive airway pressure in respiratory support for preterm infants with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome.
To study the clinical effect and safety of bubble nasal continuous positive airway pressure (BNCPAP) versus conventional nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) in respiratory support for pr...
Suboptimal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) adherence in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) clinical trials involving predominantly Caucasian males limits interpretability and generalizability. W...
The purpose of this study is to determine whether Continuous Positive Airways Pressure (CPAP) improves quality of life, cardiovascular (blood pressure) and metabolic profile (glucose and l...
Cluster headache is also called suicide headache due to excruciating nocturnal attacks. There are few treatment options available. Inhalation of oxygen has shown to abort the attacks. Con...
The hypothesis is that in sickle cell anaemia, nocturnal oxyhaemoglobin desaturation, is associated with low processing speed index, and this morbidity can be reduced with overnight auto C...
Laboratory studies suggest extubation with positive pressure because it reduces the volume of secretions filtered into the distal airway. The aim of this non inferiority study is to evalua...
New stroke therapies are needed. This study seeks to provide the preliminary data needed to plan a future study that will evaluate the efficacy of using continuous positive airway pressur...
Non-therapeutic positive end-expiratory pressure occurring frequently in patients with severe airway obstruction. It can appear with or without the administration of external positive end-expiratory pressure (POSITIVE-PRESSURE RESPIRATION). It presents an important load on the inspiratory muscles which are operating at a mechanical disadvantage due to hyperinflation. Auto-PEEP may cause profound hypotension that should be treated by intravascular volume expansion, increasing the time for expiration, and/or changing from assist mode to intermittent mandatory ventilation mode. A technique of respiratory therapy, in either spontaneously breathing or mechanically ventilated patients, in which airway pressure is maintained above atmospheric pressure throughout the respiratory cycle by pressurization of the ventilatory circuit. Works about a study where participants are assigned to a treatment, procedure, or intervention by methods that are not random. Non-randomized clinical trials are sometimes referred to as quasi-experimental clinical trials or non-equivalent control group designs.
Application of positive pressure to the inspiratory phase of spontaneous respiration.
Application of positive pressure to the inspiratory phase when the patient has an artificial airway in place and is connected to a ventilator.
