Summary of "Intrarater and Interrater Reliability of the Soong Classification for Distal Radius Volar Locking Plate Placement."

The purpose of this study was to analyze the intrarater and interrater reliability of the Soong classification for volar locking plate placement on a randomly selected, consecutive series of radiographs. Our hypothesis was that the classification would be reliable.

Hemorrhagic transformation after stroke: Interrater and intrarater agreement.

Hemorrhagic transformation (HT) is a complication of stroke that can occur spontaneously or after treatment. We aimed to assess the interrater and intrarater reliability of HT diagnosis.

Distal Radius Fractures in the Elderly: Use of the Volar Bearing Plate.

Distal radius fractures represent some of the most common injuries to the upper extremity, yet current evidence demonstrates great variability in the management of this injury. Elderly patients, in pa...

Comparison of Wide-Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet With General Anesthesia With Tourniquet for Volar Plating of Distal Radius Fracture.

Wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) is used for various hand surgeries, but there are no reports of its use for distal radius fractures. The authors compared perioperative variables and...

Use of a Large Tenaculum Clamp as a Reduction Technique for Treatment of Distal Radius Fractures.

Distal radius fractures are common upper extremity injuries requiring surgical treatment. In the context of management with a volar locking plate (VLP), a number of described techniques assist with re...

Anatomical-positional relationship between the bone structure of the distal radius and flexor pollicis longus tendon using ultrasonography.

In this study, using an ultrasonography, we investigated the positional relationship between the volar bone cortex of distal radius and flexor pollicis longus (FPL) tendon in the distal radius of heal...

Unstable Fractures of the Distal Radius: Randomised Controlled Trial of Volar Plate Versus Dorsal Nail Plate Fixation

Fractures of the distal radius are one of the most common orthopaedic injuries and are associated with a high complication rate. There is a lack of clinical trials comparing the different ...

Comparison of Two Volar Plating Systems for Distal Radius Fractures

Outcome Study of Complex Distal Radius Fractures

The purpose of this study is to collect information about how people do after different treatments of a broken wrist to see if one treatment has better results.

Extraarticular Distal Radius Fractures, X-fix or Volar Fixation

Distal radius fractures are treated surgically if severely displaced. This study aims to investigate the outcome after surgery. The investigators will randomize patients to either external...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

The joint that is formed by the distal end of the RADIUS, the articular disc of the distal radioulnar joint, and the proximal row of CARPAL BONES; (SCAPHOID BONE; LUNATE BONE; triquetral bone).

A number of ligaments on either side of, and serving as a radius of movement of, a joint having a hingelike movement. They occur at the elbow, knee, wrist, metacarpo- and metatarsophalangeal, proximal interphalangeal, and distal interphalangeal joints of the hands and feet. (Stedman, 25th ed)

Unequal curvature of the refractive surfaces of the eye. Thus a point source of light cannot be brought to a point focus on the retina but is spread over a more or less diffuse area. This results from the radius of curvature in one plane being longer or shorter than the radius at right angles to it. (Dorland, 27th ed)

Fractures of the RADIUS.

A thick, fibrocartilaginous ligament at the metacarpophalageal joint.
