Aqueous shunt has emerged as an alternative technique to trabeculectomy, considered the standard for glaucoma surgery. Currently, it is mainly indicated after failure of trabeculectomy or in glaucoma with high risk of failure. The Ahmed valve and the Baerveldt implant are the most commonly used aqueous shunts. However, it is not clear whether there are differences between them.

Using an ophthalmic viscoelastic device (OVD) to manage early postoperative hypotony after Baerveldt glaucoma implant (BGI).
To determine the five-year success rate for Baerveldt glaucoma implant (BGI) in patients who received the implant as a primary (primary BGI, used as the initial surgical procedure) or secondary (secon...
To report the outcomes of Silicone Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) implantation in the management of refractory pediatric glaucoma.
The following case report details an 88-year-old woman with severe mitral stenosis and moderate mitral regurgitation who presented with worsening dyspnea on exertion. The patient had undergone 4-vesse...
We compared the outcomes of Baerveldt glaucoma implant (BGI) surgery between vitreous cavity and anterior chamber insertion.
The objective of this study is to compare the long-term safety and efficacy of the Ahmed and the Baerveldt implants in patients who are undergoing aqueous shunt implant surgery for glaucom...
Outcomes of subjects with uncontrolled glaucoma with a single existing aqueous tube shunt implant undergoing a second aqueous shunt to transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation.
The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and efficacy of the Ahmed Valve and the Baerveldt Tube in treating refractory glaucoma. Eligible patients will be recruited from multiple...
This research is being done to compare the safety and effectiveness of two sizes of the Baerveldt glaucoma implant. A Baerveldt glaucoma implant is one of the most common types of glaucom...
The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of the Ahmed valve implant (AVI) and the Molteno single-plate implant (MSPI) in eyes with refractory glaucoma during a f...
An operation for the continuous emptying of ascitic fluid into the venous system. Fluid removal is based on intraperitoneal and intrathoracic superior vena cava pressure differentials and is performed via a pressure-sensitive one-way valve connected to a tube traversing the subcutaneous tissue of the chest wall to the neck where it enters the internal jugular vein and terminates in the superior vena cava. It is used in the treatment of intractable ascites.
Surgical fistulization of the membranous labyrinth of the inner ear with mastoid, subarachnoid or cochlear shunt. This procedure is used in the treatment of MENIERE DISEASE.
Surgical venous shunt between the portal and systemic circulation to effect decompression of the portal circulation. It is performed primarily in the treatment of bleeding esophageal varices resulting from portal hypertension. Types of shunt include portacaval, splenorenal, mesocaval, splenocaval, left gastric-caval (coronary-caval), portarenal, umbilicorenal, and umbilicocaval.
Surgical treatment for severe AORTIC VALVE STENOSIS. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is used as an alternative option in patients who are deemed at high risk or inoperable for traditional open-heart surgery.
A type of heart valve surgery that involves the repair, replacement, or reconstruction of the annulus of the MITRAL VALVE. It includes shortening the circumference of the annulus to improve valve closing capacity and reinforcing the annulus as a step in more complex valve repairs.
