Flexible reinforced laryngeal mask airway (FLMA®) has gained popularity in thyroid surgery, but air leak and displacement are still concerns.
This article was published in the following journal.
Name: Anesthesia and analgesia
Airway management is a critical skill that may be essential in the battlefield. The aim of this study was to determine if combat life savers and medics with no or limited clinical experience could pro...
In neonatal resuscitation, laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is recommended when both face mask ventilation and endotracheal intubation fail. However, experience of LMA among obstetricians, nurses and midwi...
This study will determine the safety of laryngeal mask airway (LMA) compared with endotracheal tube (ETT) in patients undergoing general anesthesia for dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery.
The non-recurrent laryngeal nerve (NRLN), which is found in 0.25-0.99 of the patients who undergo thyroid surgery, is a rare embryologically-derived variant of the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN). Ide...
Airway management in severely obese patients remains a challenging issue for anaesthetists and may lead to life-threatening situations. Supraglottic airway devices, such as the i-gel™ or the AuraGai...
The current study retrospectively assesses laryngeal mask airway use during pediatric adenoidectomies in terms of patient safety, comfort, complications and surgeon satisfaction levels.
The investigators aim to compare the airway seal pressure( oropharyngeal leak pressure) of the Self Pressurized Airway Device with Blocker® with the ProsealTM Laryngeal Mask Airway (P-LMA...
Supraglottic airway tools, one of the tools used in the management of the difficult airway. American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Difficult Airway Society of the United Kingdom air...
Comparison of two different supraglottic airway devices i.e., the ProSeal Laryngeal Mask Airway (PLMA) and Ambu AuraGain, a third generation laryngeal mask Airway.
The Laryngeal Mask Airway is a supraglottic airway device that has been used in anesthesia for decades. Now the third generation (LMA Supreme) is commonly used. Recently the LMA Protector ...
A type of oropharyngeal airway that provides an alternative to endotracheal intubation and standard mask anesthesia in certain patients. It is introduced into the hypopharynx to form a seal around the larynx thus permitting spontaneous or positive pressure ventilation without penetration of the larynx or esophagus. It is used in place of a facemask in routine anesthesia. The advantages over standard mask anesthesia are better airway control, minimal anesthetic gas leakage, a secure airway during patient transport to the recovery area, and minimal postoperative problems.
Pathological enlargement of the LINGUAL THYROID, ectopic thyroid tissue at the base of the TONGUE. It may cause upper AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION; DYSPHAGIA; or HYPOTHYROIDISM symptoms.
Congenital anomalous dilitation of the laryngeal saccule that may extend internally into the airway or externally through the thyrohyoid membrane.
Cancers or tumors of the LARYNX or any of its parts: the GLOTTIS; EPIGLOTTIS; LARYNGEAL CARTILAGES; LARYNGEAL MUSCLES; and VOCAL CORDS.
A form of bronchial disorder with three distinct components: airway hyper-responsiveness (RESPIRATORY HYPERSENSITIVITY), airway INFLAMMATION, and intermittent AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION. It is characterized by spasmodic contraction of airway smooth muscle, WHEEZING, and dyspnea (DYSPNEA, PAROXYSMAL).
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck, just above thecollarbone and is an endocrine gland that make hormones. These Thyroid hormones control the rate of many activities in the body, including how fast the body burns calories and how fast th...
Surgery is a technology consisting of a physical intervention on tissues. All forms of surgery are considered invasive procedures; so-called "noninvasive surgery" usually refers to an excision that does not penetrate the structure being exci...
