Chest Computed Tomography at Radiation Dose of a Posteroanterior and Lateral Chest X-ray Series: a Proof of Principle in Lymphangioleiomyomatosis.

Summary of "Chest Computed Tomography at Radiation Dose of a Posteroanterior and Lateral Chest X-ray Series: a Proof of Principle in Lymphangioleiomyomatosis."

Given the rising utilization of medical imaging and the risks of radiation, there is increased interest in reducing radiation exposure. The objective of this study was to evaluate, as a proof of principle, computed tomography (CT) scans performed at radiation doses equivalent to that of a posteroanterior and lateral chest x-ray series in the cystic lung disease lymphangioleiomyomatosis.

Added Value of Ultra-low-dose Computed Tomography, Dose Equivalent to Chest X-Ray Radiography, for Diagnosing Chest Pathology.

The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical value of ultra-low-dose computed tomography (ULDCT) compared with chest x-ray radiography (CXR) for diagnosing chest pathology.

High-pitch, 120 kVp/30 mAs, low-dose dual-source chest CT with iterative reconstruction: Prospective evaluation of radiation dose reduction and image quality compared with those of standard-pitch low-dose chest CT in healthy adult volunteers.

Objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the iterative reconstruction of high-pitch dual-source chest CT (IR-HP-CT) scanned with low radiation exposure compared with low dose chest...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

An imaging technique using a device which combines TOMOGRAPHY, EMISSION-COMPUTED, SINGLE-PHOTON and TOMOGRAPHY, X-RAY COMPUTED in the same session.

Computed tomography modalities which use a cone or pyramid-shaped beam of radiation.

A number of small lung lesions characterized by small round masses of 2- to 3-mm in diameter. They are usually detected by chest CT scans (COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY, X-RAY). Such nodules can be associated with metastases of malignancies inside or outside the lung, benign granulomas, or other lesions.

Computed tomography where there is continuous X-ray exposure to the patient while being transported in a spiral or helical pattern through the beam of irradiation. This provides improved three-dimensional contrast and spatial resolution compared to conventional computed tomography, where data is obtained and computed from individual sequential exposures.

Respiratory syndrome characterized by the appearance of a new pulmonary infiltrate on chest x-ray, accompanied by symptoms of fever, cough, chest pain, tachypnea, or DYSPNEA, often seen in patients with SICKLE CELL ANEMIA. Multiple factors (e.g., infection, and pulmonary FAT EMBOLISM) may contribute to the development of the syndrome.
