Radiotherapy plays a critical role in lung cancer treatment. Radiation can activate transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling and induce the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which may lead to distant metastases. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been suggested to affect radiotherapy in lung cancer.
