Summary of "Two- and three-dimensional ultrasonographic features related to histopathology of the uterine endometrial-myometrial junctional zone."

Our aim was to correlate junctional zone thickness and irregularity (junctional zone disease) and other ultrasonographic features of adenomyosis to histopathology of the endometrial-myometrial junctional zone.

Uterine Carcinosarcomas - Diagnosis and Management.

Uterine carcinosarcomas are rare tumors that account for less than 5% of all uterine malignancies. These tumors (previously called malignant mixed Müllerian tumors) are dedifferentiated carcinomas th...

Reintervention Rates After Myomectomy, Endometrial Ablation, and Uterine Artery Embolization for Patients with Uterine Fibroids.

Women with uterine fibroids (UF) may undergo less invasive procedures than hysterectomy, including myomectomy, endometrial ablation (EA), and uterine artery embolization (UAE); however, long-term need...

Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma combined with leiomyoma (stromomyoma): A bizarre tumor of the uterus in a premenopausal woman.

Uterine sarcomas are very rare malignancies, and when a hysterectomy is performed for benign causes, a risk of about 1/500 is mentioned for possible uterine sarcomas. Endometrial stromal neoplasms are...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Neoplasms of the endometrial stroma that sometimes involve the MYOMETRIUM. These tumors contain cells that may closely or remotely resemble the normal stromal cells. Endometrial stromal neoplasms are divided into three categories: (1) benign stromal nodules; (2) low-grade stromal sarcoma, or endolymphatic stromal myosis; and (3) malignant endometrial stromal sarcoma (SARCOMA, ENDOMETRIAL STROMAL).

Procedures used for the targeted destruction of the mucous membrane lining of the uterine cavity.

The extension of endometrial tissue (ENDOMETRIUM) into the MYOMETRIUM. It usually occurs in women in their reproductive years and may result in a diffusely enlarged uterus with ectopic and benign endometrial glands and stroma.

Echocardiography amplified by the addition of depth to the conventional two-dimensional ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY visualizing only the length and width of the heart. Three-dimensional ultrasound imaging was first described in 1961 but its application to echocardiography did not take place until 1974. (Mayo Clin Proc 1993;68:221-40)

Benign proliferation of the ENDOMETRIUM in the UTERUS. Endometrial hyperplasia is classified by its cytology and glandular tissue. There are simple, complex (adenomatous without atypia), and atypical hyperplasia representing also the ascending risk of becoming malignant.
