Summary of "Eight new triterpenoid saponins with antioxidant activity from the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch."

Eight new triterpenoid saponins (1-8), were isolated from the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch., together with 10 known triterpenoid saponins (9-18). Their structures were determined by analysis of their spectroscopic data and comparison with the reference. All of the compounds were evaluated for their antioxidant effects in the in vitro assay. Compounds 2 and 8 showed significant antioxidant activities against Fe/cysteine-induced liver microsomal lipid peroxidation at 0.1 μM.
