Spread Through Air Spaces (STAS) Is Prognostic in Atypical Carcinoid, Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, and Small Cell Carcinoma of the Lung.

Tumor spread through air spaces (STAS) has prognostic significance in lung adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. We sought to investigate the prognostic importance of STAS in lung neuroendocrine...

Hepatectomy for rapidly growing solitary liver metastasis from non-small cell lung cancer: a case report.

Patients with liver metastasis from non-small lung cancer (NSCLC) usually have multiple metastases at other sites and thus rarely undergo liver surgery. We present a case involving successful resectio...

Mechanism of decorin protein inhibiting invasion and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer.

To detect the protein level of Decorin in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, and to study the mechanism of Decorin inhibiting invasion and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer from the p...

Low grade intracranial meningioma presenting with pulmonary metastasis: Case report and literature review.

Meningioma is a common neoplasm in the central nervous system. Even though most meningiomas tend to have a benign, indolent clinical course, metastasis can occur. We describe a case of a 59-year-old w...

Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome and merkel cell carcinoma.

Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) is an antibody-mediated disorder of the neuromuscular junction that is most commonly diagnosed in association with small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC). Small cell...

A Phase II, Open-label, Single Arm Trial of Pembrolizumab for Refractory Atypical and Anaplastic Meningioma

Pharmacogenomic Study Realized on "Non-small Cell Lung Carcinoma"

The purpose of this study is to correlate molecular genetic profile with response to chemotherapy in case of primary chemotherapy treatment for non-small cells lung carcinoma.

Use of [18]F-FDG on PET/CT as an Alternative Non-invasive Method for Staging of Lung Cancer

To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the 18Fluor-fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) in the Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) as compared to mediastinoscopy for staging...

Proton Dose Escalation for Patients With Atypical or Anaplastic Meningiomas

The trial evaluates the effect of a moderately increased radiation dose in patients with atypical (grade II) and anaplastic (grade III) meningioma after incomplete or no surgery. Endpoint ...

An Exploratory Pharmacogenomic Study of Monotherapy Erbitux in Subjects With Metastatic Non Small Cell Lung Carcinoma

The purpose of this study is to predict responses to Erbitux as a single agent in patients with Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Malignant neoplasm arising from the epithelium of the BRONCHI. It represents a large group of epithelial lung malignancies which can be divided into two clinical groups: SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER and NON-SMALL-CELL LUNG CARCINOMA.

A form of highly malignant lung cancer that is composed of small ovoid cells (SMALL CELL CARCINOMA).

A heterogeneous aggregate of at least three distinct histological types of lung cancer, including SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA; ADENOCARCINOMA; and LARGE CELL CARCINOMA. They are dealt with collectively because of their shared treatment strategy.

An anaplastic, highly malignant, and usually bronchogenic carcinoma composed of small ovoid cells with scanty neoplasm. It is characterized by a dominant, deeply basophilic nucleus, and absent or indistinct nucleoli. (From Stedman, 25th ed; Holland et al., Cancer Medicine, 3d ed, p1286-7)

A carcinoma discovered by Dr. Margaret R. Lewis of the Wistar Institute in 1951. This tumor originated spontaneously as a carcinoma of the lung of a C57BL mouse. The tumor does not appear to be grossly hemorrhagic and the majority of the tumor tissue is a semifirm homogeneous mass. (From Cancer Chemother Rep 2 1972 Nov;(3)1:325) It is also called 3LL and LLC and is used as a transplantable malignancy.
