Smoking is a recognized risk factor for osteoporosis. Trabecular bone score (TBS) is a novel texture parameter to evaluate bone microarchitecture. TBS and their main determinants are unknown in active and former smokers.

Currently, bone densitometry fails to identify nearly half of those elderly patients at immediate fracture risk. To improve clinical assessment of vertebral fracture risk, we aimed to determine how th...
Increased prevalence of low bone mineral density (BMD) and increased fracture incidence are observed in persons living with HIV (PLWH). The trabecular bone score (TBS) is a novel index of bone microar...
To compare bone quality using the trabecular bone score (TBS) and bone microarchitecture in the distal tibia using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) in ankylosing s...
It has been established that degenerative-changes at the spine elevate bone mineral density at the lumbar spine. This study in men reports that trabecular bone score may be less affected by spinal deg...
The aim of this research was to determine any correlations between Dickkopf-1 serum levels (Dkk-1, a natural inhibitor of the Wnt signaling pathway promoting osteoclastogenesis) and the Trabecular Bon...
The proposed 6 month pilot and feasibility randomized trial will evaluate LMMS as an anabolic stimulus to bone in 30 adults on maintenance hemodialysis. The intervention will consist of 2...
Bone fracture occurrence is associated with an increasing of morbidity and mortality. Some factors of fracture occurrence have been highlighted. For example, some diseases or therapy are k...
The purpose of this clinical trial is to evaluate the osteointegrative potential of the Trabecular TitaniumTM and to measure the pattern of changing in bone mineral density (BMD) around an...
Dental implants are a prosthetic rehabilitation device whose success depends of the bone morphology and quality, in more the surgical procedure. This study aims to assess whether the para...
- The purpose of this study is to study the effectiveness of bazedoxifene in preventing loss of bone mineral density (BMD) and trabecular bone score (TBS), and any fractures in ...
A method, developed by Dr. Virginia Apgar, to evaluate a newborn's adjustment to extrauterine life. Five items - heart rate, respiratory effort, muscle tone, reflex irritability, and color - are evaluated 60 seconds after birth and again five minutes later on a scale from 0-2, 0 being the lowest, 2 being normal. The five numbers are added for the Apgar score. A score of 0-3 represents severe distress, 4-7 indicates moderate distress, and a score of 7-10 predicts an absence of difficulty in adjusting to extrauterine life.
An anatomic severity scale based on the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) and developed specifically to score multiple traumatic injuries. It has been used as a predictor of mortality.
Excessive formation of dense trabecular bone leading to pathological fractures; OSTEITIS; SPLENOMEGALY with infarct; ANEMIA; and extramedullary hemopoiesis (HEMATOPOIESIS, EXTRAMEDULLARY).
A bone morphogenetic protein family member that includes an active tolloid-like metalloproteinase domain. The metalloproteinase activity of bone morphogenetic protein 1 is specific for the removal of the C-propeptide of PROCOLLAGEN and may act as a regulator of EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX deposition. Alternative splicing of MRNA for bone morphogenetic protein 1 results in the production of several PROTEIN ISOFORMS.
The eight bones of the wrist: SCAPHOID BONE; LUNATE BONE; TRIQUETRUM BONE; PISIFORM BONE; TRAPEZIUM BONE; TRAPEZOID BONE; CAPITATE BONE; and HAMATE BONE.
Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become extremely porous, are subject to fracture, and heal slowly, occurring especially in women following menopause and often leading to curvature of the spine from vertebral collapse. Follow and track&n...
