Summary of "The Lens Opacities Classification System III grading in irradiated uveal melanomas to characterize proton induced cataracts."

To evaluate the use of the Lens Opacities Classification System III Grading (LOCS III) for the characterization of radiation-induced cataract, and to correlate the proton beam projection onto the lens with cataract location and grade as defined by the LOCS III.

Salt, Hypertension, and the Lens.

Salt is important in the pathogenesis of hypertension (HT). Salt-sensitive hypertension (SSH) accounts for about half of all HT cases. In SSH, sodium/potassium adenosine triphosphatase (Na/K-ATPase) a...

Absence of Intraocular Lymphatic Vessels in Uveal Melanomas with Extrascleral Growth.

The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of intraocular lymphatic vessels in patients with uveal melanomas and extrascleral extension using a panel of lymphatic markers. The following imm...

Volumetric macro- and micro-scale assessment of crystalline lens opacities in cataract patients using long-depth-range swept source optical coherence tomography.

We demonstrate an optimized optical platform for the three-dimensional (3-D) visualization of crystalline lens opacities in vivo in the eyes of patients with different types and grades of cataracts. W...

Observer Variability of Arthroscopic Cartilage Grading Using the Modified Outerbridge Classification System in the Dog.

The aim of this study was to determine the inter- and intra-observer variability of the modified Outerbridge cartilage classification system in canine joints evaluated via arthroscopy.

Moving Beyond Gleason Scoring.

The combination of grading and staging is the basis of current standard of care for prediction for most cancers. D. F. Gleason created the current prostate cancer (PCa) grading system. This system has...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Tumors of the choroid; most common intraocular tumors are malignant melanomas of the choroid. These usually occur after puberty and increase in incidence with advancing age. Most malignant melanomas of the uveal tract develop from benign melanomas (nevi).

A plant subclass of the class Liliopsida (monocotyledons) in the Chronquist classification system. This is equivalent to the Alismatales order in the APG classification system. It is a primitive group of more or less aquatic plants.

Tumors or cancer of ENDOMETRIUM, the mucous lining of the UTERUS. These neoplasms can be benign or malignant. Their classification and grading are based on the various cell types and the percent of undifferentiated cells.

Insertion of an artificial lens to replace the natural CRYSTALLINE LENS after CATARACT EXTRACTION or to supplement the natural lens which is left in place.

A collective term for the various types of nevi and melanomas.
