BIRNet: Brain image registration using dual-supervised fully convolutional networks.

In this paper, we propose a deep learning approach for image registration by predicting deformation from image appearance. Since obtaining ground-truth deformation fields for training can be challengi...

Joint Image Filtering with Deep Convolutional Networks.

Joint image filters leverage the guidance image as a prior and transfer the structural details from the guidance image to the target image for suppressing noise or enhancing spatial resolution. Existi...

Magnetic Resonance-Guided High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (MR-HIFU): Technical Background and Overview of Current Clinical Applications (Part 1).

Extracorporeal high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a promising method for the noninvasive thermal ablation of benign and malignant tissue. Current HIFU treatments are performed under ultras...

Applications of generative adversarial networks in medical image processing.

In recent years, researchers have introduced various methods in many domains into medical image processing so that its effectiveness and efficiency can be improved to some extent. The applications of ...

Effectiveness in Head and Neck Cancer Detection Using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Insert Device

We have developed a prototype PET insert device that can be integrated into a clinical PET/computed tomography (CT) scanner to improve its image resolution to approximately 2.5 mm in all 3...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A technique encompassing morphometry, densitometry, neural networks, and expert systems that has numerous clinical and research applications and is particularly useful in anatomic pathology for the study of malignant lesions. The most common current application of image cytometry is for DNA analysis, followed by quantitation of immunohistochemical staining.

A stochastic process such that the conditional probability distribution for a state at any future instant, given the present state, is unaffected by any additional knowledge of the past history of the system.

Work consisting of an acknowledgment of an error, issued by a publisher, editor, or author. It customarily cites the source where the error occurred, giving complete bibliographic data for retrieval. In the case of books and monographs, author, title, imprint, paging, and other helpful references will be given; in the case of journal articles, the author, title, paging, and journal reference will be shown. An erratum notice is variously cited as Errata or Corrigenda.

A method of delineating blood vessels by subtracting a tissue background image from an image of tissue plus intravascular contrast material that attenuates the X-ray photons. The background image is determined from a digitized image taken a few moments before injection of the contrast material. The resulting angiogram is a high-contrast image of the vessel. This subtraction technique allows extraction of a high-intensity signal from the superimposed background information. The image is thus the result of the differential absorption of X-rays by different tissues.

Surgical procedures conducted with the aid of computers. This is most frequently used in orthopedic and laparoscopic surgery for implant placement and instrument guidance. Image-guided surgery interactively combines prior CT scans or MRI images with real-time video.
