### Summary of "Pairing in excited nuclei: a review."

The present review summarizes the recent studies on the thermodynamic properties of pairing in many-body systems including superconductors, metallic nanosized clusters and/or grains, solid-state materials, focusing on the excited nuclei, that is nuclei at finite temperature and/or angular momentum formed via heavy-ion fusion, $\alpha$-induced fusion reactions, or inelastic scattering of light particles on heavy targets. Because of the finiteness of the systems, several interesting effects of pairing such as nonvanishing pairing gap, smoothing of superfluid-normal phase transition, first and second order phase transitions, pairing reentrance, etc., will be discussed in detail. Influences of exact and approximate thermal pairing on some nuclear properties such as temperature-dependent width of the giant dipole resonance, total level density, and radiative strength function of the $\gamma$-rays emission will be also analyzed. Finally, the first experimental evidence of the pairing reentrance phenomenon in a $^{104}$Pd nucleus as well as its solid-state counterpart of ferromagnets under strong magnetic field will be presented.

Possible Pairing Symmetry in the FeSe-Based Superconductors Determined by Quasiparticle Interference.

We study the momentum-integrated quasiparticle interference (QPI) in the FeSe-based superconductors. This method was recently proposed theoretically and has been applied to determine the pairing symme...

Unconventional Pairing Induced Anomalous Transverse Shift in Andreev Reflection.

Superconductors with unconventional pairings have been a fascinating subject of research, for which a central issue is to explore effects that can be used to characterize the pairing. The process of A...

Measurement of the Curvature-Dependent Surface Tension in Nucleating Colloidal Liquids.

The curvature dependence of the surface tension is central to the nucleation of liquids, but remains difficult to access experimentally and predict theoretically. This curvature dependence arises from...

Interband electron pairing for superconductivity from the breakdown of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation.

The origin of interband electron pairing responsible for enhancing superconductivity and the factors controlling its strength were examined. We show that the interband electron pairing is a natural co...

Theory of Phonon-Mediated Superconductivity in Twisted Bilayer Graphene.

We present a theory of phonon-mediated superconductivity in near magic angle twisted bilayer graphene. Using a microscopic model for phonon coupling to moiré band electrons, we find that phonons gene...

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Sedation

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of different brain nuclei is a treatment for multiple brain disorders. The subthalamic nucleus (STN) and globus pallidus have been used to treat advanced Parki...

Intraoperative Imaging of Pituitary Adenomas by OTL

The primary end-point of the study is to determine the specificity and sensitivity of OTL38 in identifying pituitary adenomas when excited by an imaging probe. The investigators intend to ...

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by a range of disabling motor- and non-motor symptoms caused by a loss of neurons in neuromodulatory brainstem nuclei....

Brainstem Grey Matter and Cerebral Autoregulation in Migraine With Aura.

Migraine with aura (MA) is an independent risk factor for stroke and is associated with silent brain infracts and T2 white matter hyperintensities on MRI. Previous studies using Transcrani...

Deep Brain Stimulation of the Sub-Thalamic Nucleus to Treat Severe and Treatment-resistant Cocaine Addiction.

## Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Pairing of purine and pyrimidine bases by HYDROGEN BONDING in double-stranded DNA or RNA.

Review of the medical necessity of hospital or other health facility admissions, upon or within a short time following an admission, and periodic review of services provided during the course of treatment.

Formal programs for assessing drug prescription against some standard. Drug utilization review may consider clinical appropriateness, cost effectiveness, and, in some cases, outcomes. Review is usually retrospective, but some analysis may be done before drugs are dispensed (as in computer systems which advise physicians when prescriptions are entered). Drug utilization review is mandated for Medicaid programs beginning in 1993.

Organizations representing designated geographic areas which have contracts under the PRO program to review the medical necessity, appropriateness, quality, and cost-effectiveness of care received by Medicare beneficiaries. Peer Review Improvement Act, PL 97-248, 1982.

Published materials which provide an examination of recent or current literature. Review articles can cover a wide range of subject matter at various levels of completeness and comprehensiveness based on analyses of literature that may include research findings. The review may reflect the state of the art. It also includes reviews as a literary form.
