Summary of "10-y survival in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting surgery in Tehran Heart Center-Coronary Outcome Measurement Study: The powerful predicting ability of the dietary inflammatory index and dietary antioxidant quality."

There is a higher rate of mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Iran and the mortality rate increases even after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between mortality and survival in patients 10 y after CABG, using the dietary inflammatory index (DII) and dietary antioxidant indices.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Surgical therapy of ischemic coronary artery disease achieved by grafting a section of saphenous vein, internal mammary artery, or other substitute between the aorta and the obstructed coronary artery distal to the obstructive lesion.

Coronary artery bypass surgery on a beating HEART without a CARDIOPULMONARY BYPASS (diverting the flow of blood from the heart and lungs through an oxygenator).

Direct myocardial revascularization in which the internal mammary artery is anastomosed to the right coronary artery, circumflex artery, or anterior descending coronary artery. The internal mammary artery is the most frequent choice, especially for a single graft, for coronary artery bypass surgery.

Abdominal artery that follows the curvature of the stomach. The right gastroepiploic artery is frequently used in CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFTING; MYOCARDIAL REVASCULARIZATION, and other vascular reconstruction.

Inferior and external epigastric arteries arise from external iliac; superficial from femoral; superior from internal thoracic. They supply the abdominal muscles, diaphragm, iliac region, and groin. The inferior epigastric artery is used in coronary artery bypass grafting and myocardial revascularization.
