Intravascular ultrasound-guided drug-eluting stent implantation for patients with unprotected left main coronary artery lesions: A single-center randomized trial.

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) has developed as a preferable choice for optimizing the stenting procedures mainly because it will have good access to vessel size, lesion length, or severity accuratel...

Clinical usefulness of the angle between left main coronary artery and left anterior descending coronary artery for the evaluation of obstructive coronary artery disease.

A wider angle between the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) and left circumflex coronary artery (LCX) has been suggested to induce plaque formation in the arterial system via changes in s...

Ten-Year Outcomes of Stents versus Coronary-Artery Bypass Grafting for Left Main Coronary Artery Disease.

Comparative outcomes of coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for left main coronary artery (LMCA) disease were previously reported. However, data on very...

A case report of spontaneous coronary artery dissection and the role of intravascular imaging for accurate diagnosis and successful management.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) secondary to spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare condition. SCAD can be underdiagnosed on a coronary angiography (CAG). Therefore, the application...

Intravascular Ultrasound for Evaluation of Left Gonadal Vein Anatomic Variations During Coil Embolization.

We illustrate the intravascular ultrasound (US) findings in the evaluation of left gonadal vein anatomic variations. During a 2-year period, 4 consecutive patients (mean age, 37 years; range, 28-45 ye...

Study of Unprotected Left Main Stenting Versus Bypass Surgery (LE MANS Study)

Unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) stenting, offering restoration of a native flow to left coronary artery, is the subject of intense investigations as a potential alternative t...

Ten-Year Outcomes of Stents Versus Coronary-Artery Bypass Grafting for Left Main Coronary Artery Disease

The purpose of this study is to evaluate long-term outcome of treatment(percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary-artery bypass graft) in unprotected left main coronary artery stenosi...

Clinical Study to Evaluate the STENTYS Xposition S for Treatment of Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Disease

Prospective, non-randomized, multi-center study assessing the long term safety and efficacy of the self expandable sirolimus eluting Xposition S stent in the treatment of unprotected left ...

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) Dual Imaging

Both intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) are standardly used and have been extensively studied separately to guide percutaneous coronary intervention and...

Assessment of Coronary Artery Lesion Using Optical Coherence Tomography Versus IntraVascular Ultrasound for BiorEsorbable Vascular Scaffold Implantation

The primary objective is to determine whether IVUS- (vs. OCT-) guided BVS implantation is non-inferior to achieve a large in-scaffold minimal lumen area (primary endpoint) measured by OCT ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A congenital coronary vessel anomaly in which the left main CORONARY ARTERY originates from the PULMONARY ARTERY instead of from AORTA. The congenital heart defect typically results in coronary artery FISTULA; LEFT-SIDED HEART FAILURE and MITRAL VALVE INSUFFICIENCY during the first months of life.

Direct myocardial revascularization in which the internal mammary artery is anastomosed to the right coronary artery, circumflex artery, or anterior descending coronary artery. The internal mammary artery is the most frequent choice, especially for a single graft, for coronary artery bypass surgery.

Surgical therapy of ischemic coronary artery disease achieved by grafting a section of saphenous vein, internal mammary artery, or other substitute between the aorta and the obstructed coronary artery distal to the obstructive lesion.

A complication of INTERNAL MAMMARY-CORONARY ARTERY ANASTOMOSIS whereby an occlusion or stenosis of the proximal SUBCLAVIAN ARTERY causes a reversal of the blood flow away from the CORONARY CIRCULATION, through the grafted INTERNAL MAMMARY ARTERY (internal thoracic artery), and back to the distal subclavian distribution.

The use of ultrasound to guide minimally invasive surgical procedures such as needle ASPIRATION BIOPSY; DRAINAGE; etc. Its widest application is intravascular ultrasound imaging but it is useful also in urology and intra-abdominal conditions.
