Summary of "Configuration of DNA polyhedra of Truncated Tetrahedron, Cuboctahedron, Truncated Octahedron."

The synthesis of DNA polyhedra has attracted more interest because of their wide application prospect, but their formation mechanism from mathematical viewpoint remains poorly understood. This paper presents the assembly process and mechanism of DNA truncated tetrahedron, cuboctahedron and truncated octahedron by the means of mathematics and computer program. Firstly, based on the assumption that the total number of all the crossings within each face of a DNA polyhedron must be an even number, potential types for three DNA polyhedra above are calculated by computer programs; Secondly, the projections of the truncated tetrahedron, the cuboctahedron and the truncated octahedron are plotted based on data fetched by the program; Thirdly, the component number, the odd-crossing edge number and even-crossing edge number for the corresponding polyhedral links are computed by analysis of their projections. This study gets some assembly mechanism on the structure of DNA double helix, promoting the comprehending and design efficiency of DNA polyhedra.

Investigation of shutter scan acquisition parameters in a prototype chest digital tomosynthesis system.

A shutter scan acquisition (SSA) method is proposed to reduce patient exposure dose in a chest digital tomosynthesis system. Projections obtained using the SSA constitute a combination of truncated an...

Fluorometric determination of lipopolysaccharides via changes of the graphene oxide-enhanced fluorescence polarization caused by truncated aptamers.

A broad-spectrum ssDNA aptamer containing 80 nucleotides (LA80) and capable of binding to four different sources of lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) was truncated. Two strategies are used to produce truncat...

Effect of pore geometry on the fatigue properties and cell affinity of porous titanium scaffolds fabricated by selective laser melting.

Porous titanium scaffolds with different unit cell type (tetrahedron and octahedron) and pore size (500 µm and 1000 µm) were fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM), and the effects of unit ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A family of hemoglobin-like proteins found in BACTERIA; PLANTS; and unicellular eukaryotes. Truncated hemoglobins are distantly related to vertebrate hemoglobins and are typically shorter than vertebrate hemoglobins by 20-40 residues.

An oncoprotein from the Cas NS-1 murine retrovirus that induces pre- B-CELL LYMPHOMA and MYELOID LEUKEMIAS. v-cbl protein is a tyrosine-phosphorylated, truncated form of its cellular homologue, PROTO-ONCOGENE PROTEIN C-CBL.

An AT-hook motif-containing protein (AT-HOOK MOTIFS) that binds to the minor grove of AT-rich regions of DNA. It is a truncated form of HMGA1a protein that is produced by alternative-splicing of the HMGA1 gene. It may function as an architectural chromatin binding protein that is involved in transcriptional regulation.

Transforming proteins encoded by erbB oncogenes from the avian erythroblastosis virus. The protein is a truncated form of the EGF receptor (RECEPTOR, EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR) whose kinase domain is constitutively activated by deletion of the ligand-binding domain.

A peptide of 36 or 37 amino acids that is derived from PROGLUCAGON and mainly produced by the INTESTINAL L CELLS. GLP-1(1-37 or 1-36) is further N-terminally truncated resulting in GLP-1(7-37) or GLP-1-(7-36) which can be amidated. These GLP-1 peptides are known to enhance glucose-dependent INSULIN release, suppress GLUCAGON release and gastric emptying, lower BLOOD GLUCOSE, and reduce food intake.
