Trochanteric area reconstruction with free flap using perforators as recipients: An alternative and effective option.

Summary of "Trochanteric area reconstruction with free flap using perforators as recipients: An alternative and effective option."

Reconstructing soft tissue defect on the trochanteric area is challenging. Due to the significant complications associated with regional flap, free tissue transfer is an appropriate option. However, this area has poor recipient vessels. Therefore, we present perforators as suitable recipient vessels to facilitate the use of free flap coverage for the successful reconstruction of defects in the trochanteric area.

Comparison of flap outcomes between single- and multiple-perforator-based free anterolateral thigh flap in head and neck reconstruction.

The number of perforators required for safe perfusion remains under debate. This study aimed to determine whether a single- or multiple-perforator-based anterolateral thigh flap yields better flap out...

Three-Surface Reconstruction Using Single De-Epithelialized Radial Forearm Free Flap.

Head and neck cancer often requires multiple defect reconstruction that are too far apart to handle with 1 flap. However, 1 flap with skin graft, or multiple flap reconstruction is always not possible...

Exclusive tongue tip reconstruction of hemiglossectomy defects using the underrated lateral arm free flap with bilobed design.

Tongue reconstruction is challenging with the unique function and anatomy. Goals for reconstruction differ depending on the extent of reconstruction. Thin and pliable flaps are useful for tongue tip r...

Advancements in imaging technology for microvascular free tissue transfer.

The use of preoperative imaging has become routine for many reconstructive microsurgeons to help localize perforators for planning of microvascular free flaps. However, with advancements in imaging te...

Anatomic symmetry of anterolateral thigh flap perforators: a computed tomography angiographic study.

The anterolateral thigh flap is a workhorse reconstructive flap. Versatility in design is a key strength but perforator anatomy can be variable. Inability to locate perforators prompts consideration o...

Radial Forearm Versus the Ulnar Forearm Free Flap

This study evaluates donor site outcomes in patients receiving radial forearm free flap reconstruction versus ulnar forearm free flap reconstruction. Patients who meet criteria for forearm...

Clinical Experience With a Tensor Fasciae Latae Perforator Flap Based on Septocutaneous Perforators

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possible harvest of a tensor fasciae latae flap based on septocutaneous perforators. This study should further confirm our data from an anatomic...

Multi-Modality Imaging for Head & Neck Cancer Free Flap Design Assessment

Surgical reconstruction of anatomical structures after head and neck cancer resection has made enormous strides in the past 20 years with advancing flap techniques and the usage of perfora...

Lateral Arm Flap Usage as Pedicle and Free Flap

Abstract Introduction For local reconstruction on upper extremity or as a distant micro vascular flap Lateral arm free flap is an excellent source of tissue with the advantages including ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Endonucleases that remove 5' DNA sequences from a DNA structure called a DNA flap. The DNA flap structure occurs in double-stranded DNA containing a single-stranded break where the 5' portion of the downstream strand is too long and overlaps the 3' end of the upstream strand. Flap endonucleases cleave the downstream strand of the overlap flap structure precisely after the first base-paired nucleotide, creating a ligatable nick.

A surgical technique to correct REFRACTIVE ERRORS of the EYE, such as MYOPIA and ASTIGMATISM. In this method, a flap of CORNEAL EPITHELIUM is created by exposure of the area to dilute alcohol. The flap is lifted and then replaced after laser ablation of the subepithelial CORNEA.

A surgical procedure to correct MYOPIA by CORNEAL STROMA subtraction. It involves the use of a microkeratome to make a lamellar dissection of the CORNEA creating a flap with intact CORNEAL EPITHELIUM. After the flap is lifted, the underlying midstroma is reshaped with an EXCIMER LASER and the flap is returned to its original position.

Endovascular reconstruction of an artery, which may include the removal of atheromatous plaque and/or the endothelial lining as well as simple dilatation. These are procedures performed by catheterization. When reconstruction of an artery is performed surgically, it is called ENDARTERECTOMY.

Surgical reconstruction of injured or insufficient ULNAR COLLATERAL LIGAMENT in the ELBOW JOINT.
