Summary of "Effects of different loading protocols on the bone remodeling volume of immediate maxillary single implants: A 2- to 3-year follow-up."

The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of different loading protocols (immediate or delayed) on bone volume remodeling of an immediate implant-supported single crown in the maxilla with a follow-up from 2 to 3 years.

Wnt3a involved in the mechanical loading on improvement of bone remodeling and angiogenesis in a postmenopausal osteoporosis mouse model.

Osteoporosis is a major health problem, making bones fragile and susceptible to fracture. Previous works showed that mechanical loading stimulated bone formation and accelerated fracture healing. Focu...

Vitamin A decreases the anabolic bone response to mechanical loading by suppressing bone formation.

Increased vitamin A consumption is associated with decreased cortical bone mass and increased fracture risk in humans. Rodent studies have demonstrated that hypervitaminosis A increases cortical bone ...

Muscle-induced loading as an important source of variation in craniofacial skeletal shape.

The shape of the craniofacial skeleton is constantly changing through ontogeny, and reflects a balance between developmental patterning and mechanical-load induced remodeling. Muscles are a major cont...

Femoral Bone Remodeling in Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty with Use of Modular Compared with Monoblock Tapered Fluted Titanium Stems: The Role of Stem Length and Stiffness.

To our knowledge, no previous studies have compared periprosthetic bone remodeling around monoblock versus modular tapered fluted titanium stems with different stem length and thickness.

Emerging role of circadian rhythm in bone remodeling.

The 24-h rhythm of behavioral and physiological processes is a typical biological phenomenon regulated by a group of circadian rhythm genes. Dysfunction of the circadian rhythm can cause a wide range ...

Complete Twelve Month Bone Remodeling With a Bi-phasic Injectable Bone Substitute in Benign Bone Tumors

The purpose of this study is to assess the ability a injectable bi-phasic ceramic bone substitute to provide bone generation and bone remodeling in patients with benign bone tumors.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

The continuous turnover of bone matrix and mineral that involves first, an increase in resorption (osteoclastic activity) and later, reactive bone formation (osteoblastic activity). The process of bone remodeling takes place in the adult skeleton at discrete foci. The process ensures the mechanical integrity of the skeleton throughout life and plays an important role in calcium homeostasis. An imbalance in the regulation of bone remodeling's two contrasting events, bone resorption and bone formation, results in many of the metabolic bone diseases, such as OSTEOPOROSIS.

A type of osseous tissue which makes up the inner part of bone. It has a spongy, honeycomb-like structure with struts or trabecula and contains the BONE MARROW. It has higher rate of BONE REMODELING turnover than CORTICAL BONE.

Vinblastine derivative with antineoplastic activity against CANCER. Major side effects are myelosuppression and neurotoxicity. Vindesine is used extensively in chemotherapy protocols (ANTINEOPLASTIC COMBINED CHEMOTHERAPY PROTOCOLS).

Clinical protocols used to inhibit the growth or spread of NEOPLASMS.

A humanized monoclonal antibody and an inhibitor of the RANK LIGAND, which regulates OSTEOCLAST differentiation and bone remodeling. It is used as a BONE DENSITY CONSERVATION AGENT in the treatment of OSTEOPOROSIS.
