Extrapolating Quantum Observables with Machine Learning: Inferring Multiple Phase Transitions from Properties of a Single Phase.

We present a machine-learning method for predicting sharp transitions in a Hamiltonian phase diagram by extrapolating the properties of quantum systems. The method is based on Gaussian process regress...

Nuclear envelope expansion in budding yeast is independent of cell growth and does not determine nuclear volume.

Most cells exhibit a constant ratio between nuclear and cell volume. The mechanism dictating this constant ratio and the nuclear component(s) that scale with cell size are not known. To address this, ...

Towards a better recording of microtubule cytoskeletal spatial organization and dynamics in plant cells.

Numerous fluorescent marker lines are currently available to visualize microtubule (MT) architecture and dynamics in living plant cells, such as markers expressing p35S::GFP-MBD or p35S::GFP-TUB6. How...

Separate Motor Memories are Formed When Controlling Different Implicitly Specified Locations on a Tool.

Skillful manipulation requires forming and recalling memories of the dynamics of objects linking applied force to motion. It has been assumed that such memories are associated with entire objects. How...

Orientational dependencies of dynamics and relaxation of multiple quantum NMR coherences in one-dimensional systems.

Dynamics and relaxation, or decoherence, of multiple quantum (MQ) coherences are investigated experimentally and theoretically for different orientations of a single crystal of fluorapatite with respe...

Effects of Continuous Venous Dialysis and Hemodialysis on Fluid Dynamics by Bioreactance Method

Dialysis methods applied at the bedside and dialysis methods applied in hemodialysis unit are widely applied in patients with renal insufficiency. Especially hemodynamically affected patie...

Effects of Calcium Supplementation on Women in the Curves for Women Program

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of dietary calcium supplementation on weight loss, bone density, and markers of health and fitness in women participating in the Curves ...

HIV-DNA Dynamics in HIV Monoinfected or HIV/HCV Coinfected Patients

New markers of viral activity are now under investigation. Aim of the study is to investigate the efficacy of new antiretroviral drugs by monitoring HIV-DNA dynamics in HIV-positive popula...

Comparison of Two High Performance Guidewires in ERCP

In ERCP guidewires are used for the insertion of endoprostheses and the cannulation of stenosis. This leads to two essential requirements for the wire systems: The use of a (highly) flexib...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Curves depicting MAXIMAL EXPIRATORY FLOW RATE, in liters/second, versus lung inflation, in liters or percentage of lung capacity, during a FORCED VITAL CAPACITY determination. Common abbreviation is MEFV.

The branch of physics which deals with the motions of material bodies, including kinematics, dynamics, and statics. When the laws of mechanics are applied to living structures, as to the locomotor system, it is referred to as BIOMECHANICS. (From Dorland, 28th ed)

Cell lines whose original growing procedure consisted being transferred (T) every 3 days and plated at 300,000 cells per plate (J Cell Biol 17:299-313, 1963). Lines have been developed using several different strains of mice. Tissues are usually fibroblasts derived from mouse embryos but other types and sources have been developed as well. The 3T3 lines are valuable in vitro host systems for oncogenic virus transformation studies, since 3T3 cells possess a high sensitivity to CONTACT INHIBITION.

Behavioral science applied with the aim of improving socially important issues such as behavior problems and learning. For individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities including AUTISM, techniques can be categorized as comprehensive or focused.

The study of systems which respond disproportionately (nonlinearly) to initial conditions or perturbing stimuli. Nonlinear systems may exhibit "chaos" which is classically characterized as sensitive dependence on initial conditions. Chaotic systems, while distinguished from more ordered periodic systems, are not random. When their behavior over time is appropriately displayed (in "phase space"), constraints are evident which are described by "strange attractors". Phase space representations of chaotic systems, or strange attractors, usually reveal fractal (FRACTALS) self-similarity across time scales. Natural, including biological, systems often display nonlinear dynamics and chaos.
