Summary of "Draft Whole-Genome Sequence of the Green Sulfur Photosynthetic Bacterium sp. Strain 24CR, Isolated from the Carmel River."

Green sulfur bacteria are in the family , which is composed of four distinct genera, namely, , , , and , with species being the most commonly represented in genome studies. We have now sequenced only the fourth species of , which established sp. 24CR as a separate species and should help characterize the genus.

Draft genome sequence of the moderately halophilic bacterium sp. BBL2006.

We present the draft genome sequence of sp. BBL2006, a moderately halophilic, gram positive bacterium isolated from a sulfidic salt spring in Big Bone Lick State Park, Boone County, Kentucky. The gen...

Draft genome sequence of Dichelobacter nodosus JK-07B serogroup E from India.

Dichelobacter nodusus an anaerobic bacterium having fastidious growth requirements is the principle cause of foot rot associated with lameness in sheep and goat. In India serogroup B and E have been r...

Draft Genome Sequence of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis Isolate from Swine.

We report here the draft genome sequence of a methicillin resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis strain PR246B0 (sequence type 59) isolated from a pooled rectal sample from pigs collected in an abattoir...

Draft genome of Thermomonospora sp. CIT 1 (Thermomonosporaceae) and in silico evidence of its functional role in filter cake biomass deconstruction.

The filter cake from sugar cane processing is rich in organic matter and nutrients, which favors the proliferation of microorganisms with potential to deconstruct plant biomass. From the metagenomic d...

Draft genome sequence of colistin-resistant Escherichia coli ST226: A clinical strain harboring a mcr-1 variant.

Escherichia coli isolates carrying mcr-1 are rarely reported in diarrheal patients. We report here the draft genome sequence of colistin-resistant E. coli isolated from a hospitalized patient with acu...

Whole Genome Sequencing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

This research is being done to see if whole genome sequencing (WGS) improves the diagnosis of patients in the NICU. Using WGS in this way, which is relatively new, researchers at Penn Stat...

Green Tea Anticancer Mechanisms in Smokers

The purpose of this study is to determine whether green tea may lower the risk of certain cancers.

Global Syphilis Sequencing

Syphilis is an important sexually transmitted infection. There has been an epidemic of syphilis amongst men who have sex with men in the United Kingdom in the last decade. Early infection ...

Cardioprotective Effects of Green Tea Versus Maté Intake

The investigators aim to study the effects of green tea and maté consumption on lipid and inflammatory profiles in dyslipidemic and overweight subjects.

Dietary Green Tea Confection For Resolving Gut Permeability-Induced Metabolic Endotoxemia In Obese Adults

This study is focused on assessing gastrointestinal-level improvements by which green tea limits metabolic endotoxemia. It is expected that catechin-rich green tea will improve gut barrier...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A coordinated effort of researchers to map (CHROMOSOME MAPPING) and sequence (SEQUENCE ANALYSIS, DNA) the human GENOME.

Short tracts of DNA sequence that are used as landmarks in GENOME mapping. In most instances, 200 to 500 base pairs of sequence define a Sequence Tagged Site (STS) that is operationally unique in the human genome (i.e., can be specifically detected by the polymerase chain reaction in the presence of all other genomic sequences). The overwhelming advantage of STSs over mapping landmarks defined in other ways is that the means of testing for the presence of a particular STS can be completely described as information in a database.

Techniques to determine the entire sequence of the GENOME of an organism or individual.

The parts of a GENOME sequence that are involved with the different functions or properties of genomes as a whole as opposed to those of individual GENES.

A genus of green nonsulfur bacteria in the family Chloroflexaceae. They are photosynthetic, thermophilic, filamentous gliding bacteria found in hot springs.
