Summary of "Divergent network properties that predict early surgical failure versus late recurrence in temporal lobe epilepsy."

The objectives of this study were to identify functional and structural network properties that are associated with early versus long-term seizure outcomes after mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE) surgery and to determine how these compare to current clinically used methods for seizure outcome prediction.

Early versus late surgical stabilization of severe rib fractures in patients with respiratory failure: A retrospective study.

The timing of surgical stabilization of rib fractures remains controversial. We hypothesized that early surgical stabilization (within 3 days of injury) can improve clinical outcome in patients with s...

Using Surgeon Hand Motions to Predict Surgical Maneuvers.

This study explores how common machine learning techniques can predict surgical maneuvers from a continuous video record of surgical benchtop simulations.

Comparison of Percutaneous and Surgical Right Ventricular Assist Device Support Following Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device Insertion.

Early right ventricular (RV) failure after LVAD increases morbidity and mortality. Percutaneous RVAD (pRVAD) support is an alternative to more invasive surgical RVAD (sRVAD).

Early prediction of treatment failure in severe community-acquired pneumonia: The PRoFeSs score.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Methods to identify and characterize cancer in the early stages of disease and predict tumor behavior.

A semisynthetic digitalis glycoside with the general properties of DIGOXIN but more rapid onset of action. Its cardiotonic action is prolonged by its demethylation to DIGOXIN in the liver. It has been used in the treatment of congestive heart failure (HEART FAILURE).

A group of homologous proteins which form the intermembrane channels of GAP JUNCTIONS. The connexins are the products of an identified gene family which has both highly conserved and highly divergent regions. The variety contributes to the wide range of functional properties of gap junctions.

Agents that have a strengthening effect on the heart or that can increase cardiac output. They may be CARDIAC GLYCOSIDES; SYMPATHOMIMETICS; or other drugs. They are used after MYOCARDIAL INFARCT; CARDIAC SURGICAL PROCEDURES; in SHOCK; or in congestive heart failure (HEART FAILURE).

Methods to determine in patients the nature of a disease or disorder at its early stage of progression. Generally, early diagnosis improves PROGNOSIS and TREATMENT OUTCOME.
