Summary of "Effect of PPAR-gamma agonist on aerobic exercise capacity in relation to body fat distribution in men with type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease."

Targeting metabolic determinants of exercise performance with pharmacological agents that would mimic/potentiate the effects of exercise represents an attractive clinical alternative to counterbalance the poor exercise capacity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Effects of Aerobic and Resistance Exercise on Cardiovascular Parameters for People Living With HIV: A Meta-analysis.

People living with HIV (PLWH) have limited exercise capacity because of anemia, neuromuscular disorders, and pulmonary limitations. We used a meta-analysis to examine the effect of aerobic and resista...

Brain derived neutrophic factor, a link of aerobic metabolism to neuroplasticity.

Currently, literature has accumulated great knowledge over the effect of exercise on the neurotrophin named brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its role in neuronal plasticity. However, there...

AMPK and PPARβ positive feedback loop regulates endurance exercise-mediated GLUT4 expression in skeletal muscle.

The objective of this study is to determine whether AMPK, PGC-1α or PPARβ can independently mediate the increase of GLUT4 expression that occurs in response to exercise training. We found that PPAR...

Poststroke exercise is as effective as skilled rehabilitation: Effects in young and aged mice.

Stroke is a leading cause of long-term disability, though current rehabilitative strategies fail to yield complete recovery. Focused training of the impaired limb improves functional outcome in rodent...

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-Gamma (PPAR-Gamma) Agonist in Diabetic End-Stage Renal Disease Patients

To test the hypothesis that PPAR-gamma agonist, rosiglitazone, induces carotid plaque regression in diabetic ESRD patients on maintenance PD via its anti-inflammatory property.

The Effect of an Aerobic Exercise Programme in Stroke Patients

This study aims to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise on the aerobic capacity, the daily functioning, post-stroke fatigue , depression and cardiovascular risk factors in stroke pa...

Rosiglitazone Plaque Study

The purpose of this study is to determine whether rosiglitazone, a peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPAR-gamma) agonist, induces regression in carotid atherosclerotic plaq...

The objective of the study is to compare PPAR activities (increase of adiponectin level) between MICARDIS and amlodipine after 6 weeks of treatment in hypertensive patients with metabolic ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Controlled physical activity, more strenuous than at rest, which is performed in order to allow assessment of physiological functions, particularly cardiovascular and pulmonary, but also aerobic capacity. Maximal (most intense) exercise is usually required but submaximal exercise is also used. The intensity of exercise is often graded, using criteria such as rate of work done, oxygen consumption, and heart rate.

The exercise capacity of an individual as measured by endurance (maximal exercise duration and/or maximal attained work load) during an EXERCISE TEST.

THIAZOLES with two keto oxygens. Members are insulin-sensitizing agents which overcome INSULIN RESISTANCE by activation of the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPAR-gamma).

Alternating sets of exercise that work out different muscle groups and that also alternate between aerobic and anaerobic exercises, which, when combined together, offer an overall program to improve strength, stamina, balance, or functioning.

Measurement of the dimensions and capacity of the pelvis. It includes cephalopelvimetry (measurement of fetal head size in relation to maternal pelvic capacity), a prognostic guide to the management of LABOR, OBSTETRIC associated with disproportion.
