Renal tubular P-glycoprotein expression is reduced in plasma cell disorders.

08:00 EDT 8th April 2019 | BioPortfolio

Summary of "Renal tubular P-glycoprotein expression is reduced in plasma cell disorders."

: P-glycoprotein (P-gp) transports many chemicals that vary greatly in their structure and function. It is normally expressed in renal proximal tubular cells. We hypothesized that P-gp expression influences light chain excretion. Therefore, we investigated whether renal tubular P-gp expression is altered in patients with plasma cell disorders.

Alpha-lipoic acid attenuates p-cresyl sulfate-induced renal tubular injury through suppression of apoptosis and autophagy in human proximal tubular epithelial cells.

The p-cresyl sulfate accumulates in kidney disease and may be involved in renal injury. α-Lipoic acid (α-LA) acts as an antioxidant in cell injury. We investigated the effects of α-LA treatment on ...

Huge mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma of kidney: A rare case report and literature review.

Mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma (MTSCC) is a variant of renal cell carcinoma newly added to the WHO classification in 2004. It is a rare variant of renal cell carcinoma and sometimes it is...

Growth arrest and DNA damage 45γ is required for caspase-dependent renal tubular cell apoptosis.

Growth Arrest and DNA Damage 45γ (GADD45γ) is a member of the DNA damage-inducible gene family which responds to environmental stresses. Apoptosis is a critical mode of renal tubular cell death in n...

Gene Deletion of the Na-Glucose Cotransporter SGLT1Ameliorates Kidney Recovery in a Murine Model of Acute Kidney InjuryInduced by Ischemia-Reperfusion.

The renal Na-glucose cotransporter SGLT1 mediates glucose reabsorption in the late proximal tubule, a hypoxia-sensitive tubular segment that enters the outer medulla. Gene-deletion in mice () was used...

MiR-223-3p promotes cell proliferation and metastasis by downregulating SLC4A4 in clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to affect the occurrence and progression of cancer. We therefore evaluated the involvement of miR-223-3p in renal cell cancer. MiR-223-3p was highly expressed in clear cel...

Progression of Renal Interstitial Fibrosis / Tubular Atrophy (IF/TA) According to Epithelial-mesenchymal Transition (EMT) and Immunosuppressive Regimen (Everolimus Based Versus CNI Based) in de Novo Renal Transplant Recipients

Recently, early biomarkers of renal interstitial fibrosis have been identified, amongst them de novo expression of vimentin by tubular epithelial cells, which is an intermediate filament, ...

Tc-99m Renography and Cisplatin-Induced Nephrotoxicity

Cisplatin is a heavy-metal complex widely used in the treatment of a variety of malignancies, including small cell and non-small cell lung cancer, ovarian, bladder, head and neck, esophage...

Plasma Glycosaminoglycans as Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers in Surgically Treated Renal Cell Carcinoma

In this study, we profiled plasma glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in a retrospective consecutive series of patients with a radiographic finding of renal mass referred to primary surgery for rena...

Renoprotective Effects of Telbivudine in Chronic Hepatitis B

Renal impairment is common in patients with chronic hepatitis B infection. For those taking nucleotide analogues, renal toxicity of adefovir disoproxil (ADV) and tenofovir disoproxil fumar...

Incidence of Renal Tubular Acidosis in Nephrology Unit in Assiut University Childern Hospital

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A group of genetic disorders of the KIDNEY TUBULES characterized by the accumulation of metabolically produced acids with elevated plasma chloride, hyperchloremic metabolic ACIDOSIS. Defective renal acidification of URINE (proximal tubules) or low renal acid excretion (distal tubules) can lead to complications such as HYPOKALEMIA, hypercalcinuria with NEPHROLITHIASIS and NEPHROCALCINOSIS, and RICKETS.

The amount of PLASMA that perfuses the KIDNEYS per unit time, approximately 10% greater than effective renal plasma flow (RENAL PLASMA FLOW, EFFECTIVE). It should be differentiated from the RENAL BLOOD FLOW; (RBF), which refers to the total volume of BLOOD flowing through the renal vasculature, while the renal plasma flow refers to the rate of plasma flow (RPF).

The prototypical uricosuric agent. It inhibits the renal excretion of organic anions and reduces tubular reabsorption of urate. Probenecid has also been used to treat patients with renal impairment, and, because it reduces the renal tubular excretion of other drugs, has been used as an adjunct to antibacterial therapy.

The amount of PLASMA flowing to the parts of the KIDNEY that function in the production of urine. It is the amount of plasma perfusing the KIDNEY TUBULES per unit time, generally measured by P-AMINOHIPPURATE clearance. It should be differentiated from RENAL PLASMA FLOW which is approximately 10% greater than the effective renal plasma flow.

A cytosolic carbonic anhydrase isoenzyme found widely distributed in cells of almost all tissues. Deficiencies of carbonic anhydrase II produce a syndrome characterized by OSTEOPETROSIS, renal tubular acidosis (ACIDOSIS, RENAL TUBULAR) and cerebral calcification. EC 4.2.1.-
