Curve patterns deserve attention when determining the optimal distal fusion level in correction surgery for Scheuermann's Kyphosis.

Summary of "Curve patterns deserve attention when determining the optimal distal fusion level in correction surgery for Scheuermann's Kyphosis."

The surgical strategy to decide distal fusion level for Scheuermann's Kyphosis (SK) is controversial. Some spinal surgeons advocate that instrumentation should end at the first lordotic vertebra (FLV) while others recommend extending spinal fusion to the sagittal stable vertebra (SSV). SK has two curve patterns: Scheuermann's thoracic kyphosis (STK), with the curve apex above or at T10 and Scheuermann's thoracolumbar kyphosis (STLK), with the curve apex below T10. To our knowledge, curve patterns have not been taken into consideration when determining the distal fusion level.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A statistical means of summarizing information from a series of measurements on one individual. It is frequently used in clinical pharmacology where the AUC from serum levels can be interpreted as the total uptake of whatever has been administered. As a plot of the concentration of a drug against time, after a single dose of medicine, producing a standard shape curve, it is a means of comparing the bioavailability of the same drug made by different companies.
