Racemic and highly enantioenriched 3-methoxycarbonyl, 3-carboxy and 3-hydroxymethyl derivatives of dibenzohelicene were prepared. The Langmuir layers of these helicenes were formed at the air-water interface and transferred onto solid substrates to afford Langmuir-Blodgett films, which were then studied by ambient atomic force microscopy and (chir)optical spectroscopy. Significant differences were found in the behaviour of the Langmuir layers as well as in the morphology, UV-Vis, ECD and fluorescence spectra of the Langmuir-Blodgett thin films depending on the molecular chirality and nature of the polar group. The experimental results were supported by molecular dynamics simulations.

In this article, we demonstrate the self-assembly and photoresponive behavior of a novel coumarin-based amphiphilic dendron in both aqueous solution and air-water interface. The dendritic structure, n...
Quantitatively understanding the self-assembly of amphiphilic macromolecules at liquid-liquid interfaces is a fundamental scientific concern due to its relevance to a broad range of applications inclu...
Chirality transfers from self-assembly of achiral titanyl phthalocyanine (TiOPc) to its top-sitting TiOPc molecule has been successfully achieved. The TiOPc molecules first assemble into a porous netw...
Almost three decades after de Gennes have introduced the term Janus for particles possessing two faces with different chemical nature, Janus particles are currently a hot topic in itself. Although de ...
Biocatalytic self-assembly in a nanoconfined environment is widely used in nature to construct complex structures that endow special characteristics to life. There is tremendous interest in mimicking ...

Implanted fluid propulsion systems with self-contained power source for providing long-term controlled-rate delivery of drugs such as chemotherapeutic agents or analgesics. Delivery rate may be externally controlled or osmotically or peristatically controlled with the aid of transcutaneous monitoring.
Compounds that provide LUBRICATION between surfaces in order to reduce FRICTION. They are typically LIPIDS, and include lipophilic lotions, but not EYEDROPS which are aqueous, nor SURFACE-ACTIVE AGENTS which are amphiphilic surfactants.
A histone chaperone that facilitates nucleosome assembly by mediating the formation of the histone octamer and its transfer to DNA.
A family of cellular proteins that mediate the correct assembly or disassembly of polypeptides and their associated ligands. Although they take part in the assembly process, molecular chaperones are not components of the final structures.
A subclass of clathrin assembly proteins that occur as monomers.
