We thank Jiang et al for their letter to the editor (1) on our study (2) which analyzed patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the UNOS database with at least one pre-liver transplant (LT) AFP >1000 ng/ml. We demonstrated significantly improved post-transplant survival and decreased HCC recurrence among patients with a reduction in AFP to <500 ng/mL with local-regional therapy (LRT), validating the recently approved national policy.
