The concurrent Zika Virus (ZIKV) outbreaks in the United States and Northeast Brazil have evoked global surveillance. Zika infection has been correlated with severe clinical symptoms such as Microcephaly, Guillain Barré (GBS) syndrome and other congenital brain abnormalities. Recent data suggest that ZIKV predominantly targets neural progenitor cells leading to neurological impairment. Despite the clinical evidence, detailed experimental mechanism of ZIKV neurotropic pathogenesis has not been fully understood yet. Here we hypothesized that ZIKV produces miRNAs, which target essential host genes involved in various cellular pathways facilitating their survival through immune evasion and progression of disease during brain development.

Zika virus (ZIKV) infections have caused a wide spectrum of neurological diseases, such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, myelitis, meningoencephalitis, and congenital microcephaly. No effective therapies ...
The risk of Zika virus (ZIKV) infection during pregnancy depends on the incidence of the disease, which is highly variable in different affected geographic areas (
Little is known about the historical and current risk of Zika virus infection in southeast Asia, where the mosquito vector is widespread and other arboviruses circulate endemically. Centralised Zika v...
Zika virus infection causes serious birth defects, including microcephaly, when expectant mothers are infected during pregnancy. Zika outbreaks have been reported in the Pacific Islands, South America...
Zika virus is a mosquito-borne virus that causes congenital Zika syndrome, characterized by microcephaly and other fetal brain anomalies. This case report presents a case of Zika virus-related fetal b...
In this prospective observational study the investigators will report on 20 male subjects with proven WHO-classification Zika infection. These subjects will be followed up for a maximum of...
The purpose of this study is to determine whether any diagnostic patterns exist in the symptom presentation of Zika Virus.
Currently, there are no licensed therapeutics against Zika virus infection. Due to this unmet medical need, Zika Virus Immune Globulin (ZIKV-IG) is being developed as a therapeutic interve...
The clinical trial will assess the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of GLS-5700. GLS-5700 is a synthetic DNA plasmid vaccine against the Zika virus. ZIKA-001 is the first in man cl...
The clinical trial will assess the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of GLS-5700. GLS-5700 is a synthetic DNA plasmid vaccine against the Zika virus. This is a Phase 1 clinical tria...
An arbovirus in the FLAVIVIRUS genus of the family FLAVIVIRIDAE. Originally isolated in the Zika Forest of UGANDA it has been introduced to Asia and the Americas.
A viral disease transmitted by the bite of AEDES mosquitoes infected with ZIKA VIRUS. Its mild DENGUE-like symptoms include fever, rash, headaches and ARTHRALGIA. The viral infection during pregnancy, however, may be associated with other neurological and autoimmune complications (e.g., GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME; and MICROCEPHALY).
Small double-stranded, non-protein coding RNAs, 21-25 nucleotides in length generated from single-stranded microRNA gene transcripts by the same RIBONUCLEASE III, Dicer, that produces small interfering RNAs (RNA, SMALL INTERFERING). They become part of the RNA-INDUCED SILENCING COMPLEX and repress the translation (TRANSLATION, GENETIC) of target RNA by binding to homologous 3'UTR region as an imperfect match. The small temporal RNAs (stRNAs), let-7 and lin-4, from C. elegans, are the first 2 miRNAs discovered, and are from a class of miRNAs involved in developmental timing.
A method of chemical analysis based on the detection of characteristic radionuclides following a nuclear bombardment. It is also known as radioactivity analysis. (McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 4th ed)
Meta-analysis of randomized trials in which estimates of comparative treatment effects are visualized and interpreted from a network of interventions that may or may not have been evaluated directly against each other. Common considerations in network meta-analysis include conceptual and statistical heterogeneity and incoherence.
