Summary of "Radiogenomics Consortium Genome-Wide Association Study Meta-analysis of Late Toxicity after Prostate Cancer Radiotherapy."

10-20% of patients develop long-term toxicity following radiotherapy for prostate cancer. Identification of common genetic variants associated with susceptibility to radiotoxicity might improve risk prediction and inform functional mechanistic studies.

A Potential Role for the STXBP5-AS1 Gene in Adult ADHD Symptoms.

We aimed to detect Attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD) risk-conferring genes in adults. In children, ADHD is characterized by age-inappropriate levels of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivit...

Assessment of melanoma candidate genes in a meta-analysis of 16,534 melanoma cases.

Numerous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been implicated with cutaneous melanoma (CM) Objective: The aim of our study was to establish novel susceptibility loci for CM by assessing candida...

Identification of novel loci associated with hip shape: a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies.

We aimed to report the first genome-wide association study (GWAS) meta-analysis of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA)-derived hip shape, which is thought to be related to the risk of both hip oste...

Genome-wide meta-analysis and replication studies in multiple ethnicities identify novel adolescent idiopathic scoliosis susceptibility loci.

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is the most common musculoskeletal disorder of childhood development. The genetic architecture of AIS is complex, and the great majority of risk factors are undis...

Joint association analysis identified 18 new loci for bone mineral density.

Bone mineral density (BMD) at various skeletal sites have shared genetic determinants. In the present study, aiming to identify shared loci associated with BMD, we conducted a joint association study ...

Molecular and Genetic Analysis of Lung Cancer

Investigators use a genome-wide approach within a case-control design to identify SNPs that show evidence of association with lung cancer risk and survival.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

An analysis comparing the allele frequencies of all available (or a whole GENOME representative set of) polymorphic markers in unrelated patients with a specific symptom or disease condition, and those of healthy controls to identify markers associated with a specific disease or condition.

Meta-analysis of randomized trials in which estimates of comparative treatment effects are visualized and interpreted from a network of interventions that may or may not have been evaluated directly against each other. Common considerations in network meta-analysis include conceptual and statistical heterogeneity and incoherence.

Works consisting of studies using a quantitative method of combining the results of independent studies (usually drawn from the published literature) and synthesizing summaries and conclusions which may be used to evaluate therapeutic effectiveness, plan new studies, etc. It is often an overview of clinical trials. It is usually called a meta-analysis by the author or sponsoring body and should be differentiated from reviews of literature.

A coordinated effort of researchers to map (CHROMOSOME MAPPING) and sequence (SEQUENCE ANALYSIS, DNA) the human GENOME.

Techniques which study entities using their topological, geometric, or geographic properties and include the dimension of time in the analysis.
