Endovascular Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke.

To review the current evidence supporting the use of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) due to anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (LVO).

Expanding the Indications for Flow Diversion: Treatment of Posterior Circulation Aneurysms.

Posterior circulation aneurysms are often associated with a higher risk of rupture and compressive symptoms compared to their anterior circulation counterpart. Due to high morbidity and mortality asso...

Effect of Endovascular Therapy on Subsequent Decompressive Hemicraniectomy in Cardioembolic Ischemic Stroke with Proximal Intracranial Occlusion in the Anterior Circulation: Sub-Analysis of the RESCUE-Japan Registry 2.

Cardioembolic stroke is associated with a higher rate of functional limitation, which may be related to the larger ischemic lesion size. Endovascular therapy (EVT) for acute stroke caused by large ves...

"adaptatiVe Endovascular strategy to the CloT MRI in large intracranial vessel Occlusion" (VECTOR): study protocol of a randomized control trial.

A correlation between the susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) and red thrombi has been identified in MRI. We hypothesized that the Embotrap allow better retrieving of SVS+ thrombi. The AdaptatiVe Endovas...

Effect of mode of anesthesia on radiation exposure in patients undergoing endovascular recanalization of anterior circulation embolic stroke.

To determine the effect of general anesthesia (GA) versus conscious sedation (CS) on radiation exposure (RE), procedure time (PT), and fluoroscopy time (FT) in patients receiving endovascular stroke t...

Randomized Controlled Trial of Endovascular Therapy for Acute Large Vessel Occlusion With Large Ischemic Core

RESCUE-Japan LIMIT(Recovery by Endovascular Salvage for Cerebral Ultra-acute Embolism Japan Large IscheMIc core Trial) is a prospective, open label, blinded endpoint (PROBE), Japanese, two...

Mild Acute Ischemic Stroke With Large Vessel Occlusion (MISTWAVE)

Stroke remains the leading cause of disability in the United States. An estimated 40-50% of all ischemic strokes are caused by large-vessel occlusion of a major cerebral artery (LVO). Howe...

Direct Transfer to an Endovascular Center Compared to Transfer to the Closest Stroke Center in Acute Stroke Patients With Suspected Large Vessel Occlusion

To evaluate the hypothesis that direct transfer to an Endovascular Stroke Center, compared to transfer to the closest Local Stroke Center, offers a better outcome in the distribution of th...

Minor Stroke Therapy Evaluation

Stroke represents the fourth leading cause of death in industrialized nations, after heart disease, cancer, and chronic lower respiratory disease. Approximately one-quarter of the patients...

Recovery by Endovascular Salvage for Cerebral Ultra-acute Embolism (RESCUE)-Japan RCT

The aim of this study is to clarify the efficacy of the endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke patients with large vessel occlusion and are not respond to intravenous recombinant...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Blocking of a blood vessel by fat deposits in the circulation. It is often seen after fractures of large bones or after administration of CORTICOSTEROIDS.

Hormones released from the neurohypophysis (PITUITARY GLAND, POSTERIOR). They include a number of peptides which are formed in the NEURONS in the HYPOTHALAMUS, bound to NEUROPHYSINS, and stored in the nerve terminals in the posterior pituitary. Upon stimulation, these peptides are released into the hypophysial portal vessel blood.

Postoperative hemorrhage from an endovascular AORTIC ANEURYSM repaired with endoluminal placement of stent grafts (BLOOD VESSEL PROSTHESIS IMPLANTATION). It is associated with pressurization, expansion, and eventual rupture of the aneurysm.

Aneurysm caused by a tear in the TUNICA INTIMA of a blood vessel leading to interstitial HEMORRHAGE, and splitting (dissecting) of the vessel wall, often involving the AORTA. Dissection between the intima and media causes luminal occlusion. Dissection at the media, or between the media and the outer adventitia causes aneurismal dilation.

Splitting of the vessel wall in the VERTEBRAL ARTERY. Interstitial hemorrhage into the media of the vessel wall can lead to occlusion of the vertebral artery, aneurysm formation, or THROMBOEMBOLISM. Vertebral artery dissection is often associated with TRAUMA and injuries to the head-neck region but can occur spontaneously.
