The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) Virginia Surgical Quality Collaborative (VSQC) exists to improve surgical outcomes through multi-institutional collaboration. Enhanced Recovery (ER) protocols improve morbidity and reduce length of stay (LOS) following elective surgery. We hypothesized implementation of ER through VSQC would reduce postoperative complications and LOS in patients undergoing elective colectomy. Our objective was to evaluate whether standardization of care based on evidenced based practices in healthcare settings across multiple institutions improved outcomes.

Enhanced recovery programs have been associated with improved outcomes following gynecologic surgery. There is limited data on the effect of enhanced recovery programs on healthcare costs or healthcar...
Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) has been associated with increased postoperative complications and a prolonged length of stay (LOS). We report on our ...
The concept of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) entails recovery facilitation of patients who undergo surgery through the implementation of a multidisciplinary and multimodal perioperative care ...
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols aim to improve perioperative outcomes and facilitate recovery for the patient through multimodal pathways. While implementation of ERAS has improved ou...
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) requires a reorganization of care and optimal coordination of the different perioperative steps. The coordinating nurse has a crucial role in setting up such a p...
The aim of our study is to determine the effect of implementation of the ERAS (enhanced recovery after surgery) protocol in our institute and its impact on hospital length of stay and outc...

Enhanced recovery programs are composed of preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative strategies combined to form a multi-modal pathway. ERAS requires a multidisciplinary team of anest...
Currently, at the CHUM - Notre-Dame Hospital, there is no standardized patient care pathway for patients undergoing Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) lobectomy. The investigators goal...
Controlled studies which are planned and carried out by several cooperating institutions to assess certain variables and outcomes in specific patient populations, for example, a multicenter study of congenital anomalies in children.
Work consisting of a controlled study executed by several cooperating institutions.
A work that reports on the results of a clinical study in which participants may receive diagnostic, therapeutic, or other types of interventions, but the investigator does not assign participants to specific interventions (as in an interventional study).
A work that reports on the results of a research study to evaluate interventions or exposures on biomedical or health-related outcomes. The two main types of clinical studies are interventional studies (clinical trials) and observational studies. While most clinical studies concern humans, this publication type may be used for clinical veterinary articles meeting the requisites for humans.
The study and implementation of techniques and methods for designing computer systems to perform functions normally associated with human intelligence, such as understanding language, learning, reasoning, problem solving, etc.
Surgery is a technology consisting of a physical intervention on tissues. All forms of surgery are considered invasive procedures; so-called "noninvasive surgery" usually refers to an excision that does not penetrate the structure being exci...
