Summary of "Reutilization of high COD leachate via recirculation strategy for methane production in anaerobic digestion of municipal solid waste: Performance and dynamic of methanogen community."

The influences of reutilization of high COD leachate via recirculation strategy on methane production and dynamic of methanogen community in anaerobic digestion of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) were revealed. With a COD concentration of 6000 mg·L recirculation, the efficiency of hydrolytic acidification process was improved and alleviated the pH reduction during acidification, while the highest COD removal efficiency was achieved. The maximum methane production rate and accumulated CH production by the 6000 mg·L group increased by 90.7% and 156.0%, respectively. Whereas the performance of the 9000 mg·L group was actually below the control group. According to high-throughput sequencing, the superiority of acetotrophic Methanothrix was replaced by hydrogenotrophic Methanobacterium in the 3000- and 6000-mg·L systems. Methanoculleus predominated in the 9000-mg·L system, while Methanoregula, Methanolinea, and Methanospirillum suffered intensive inhibition effects. Canonical correspondence analysis verified a positive correlation between the dominant methanogens Methanobacterium and CH production, and a negative correlation with Methanoculleus.

Study of an enhanced dry anaerobic digestion of swine manure: Performance and microbial community property.

Anaerobic digestion could treat organic wastes and recovery energy. Dry anaerobic digestion had advantages of low heating energy, small digester and less digestate, but its methane production was poor...

Long-term evaluation of methane production in a bio-electrochemical anaerobic digestion reactor according to the organic loading rate.

COD/sulfate ratio does not affect the methane yield and microbial diversity in anaerobic digesters.

Anaerobic digestion of organic matter is the major route of biomethane production. However, in the presence of sulfate, sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) typically outcompete methanogens, which may redu...

Polyvinylchloride Microplastics Affect Methane Production from the Anaerobic Digestion of Waste Activated Sludge through Leaching Toxic Bisphenol-A.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A cardiovascular exercise strategy with alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods.

A group of methane-based halogenated hydrocarbons containing one or more fluorine and chlorine atoms.

A family of anaerobic METHANOCOCCALES whose organisms are thermophilic methanogens that produce methane from hydrogen and simple carbon sources such as carbon dioxide.

A genus of anaerobic, irregular spheroid-shaped METHANOSARCINALES whose organisms are nonmotile. Endospores are not formed. These archaea derive energy via formation of methane from acetate, methanol, mono-, di-, and trimethylamine, and possibly, carbon monoxide. Organisms are isolated from freshwater and marine environments.

The oxygen consumption level above which aerobic energy production is supplemented by anaerobic mechanisms during exercise, resulting in a sustained increase in lactate concentration and metabolic acidosis. The anaerobic threshold is affected by factors that modify oxygen delivery to the tissues; it is low in patients with heart disease. Methods of measurement include direct measure of lactate concentration, direct measurement of bicarbonate concentration, and gas exchange measurements.
