Mixed HCV genotype (GT) infections are clinically important as different genotypes have different sensitivities to direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). A high prevalence of mixed GT infections was observed in people who inject drugs due to their multiple HCV exposures. The prevalence of mixed HCV GT infections in men having sex with men (MSM) at high-risk behaviors was investigated by ultra-deep sequencing (UDS).

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) mixed genotype infections can affect treatment outcomes and may have implications for vaccine design and disease progression. Previous studies demonstrate 0-39% of high-risk, H...
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotyping is a critical parameter that acts as predictor of treatment response. According to previously reported findings, about 11 million population of Pakistan are HCV infe...
In situ hybridization (ISH) is an informative and relatively accessible technique for the localization of viral genomes in plant tissue and cells. However, simultaneous visualization of related plant ...
Hepatitis E virus genotype 3 (HEV3) is responsible for acute and chronic liver disease in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. HEV was recently found in the urine of some acutely and chronically g...

The purpose of this study is to find out if anti-HIV drugs, taken by patients who are newly infected with HIV, can make the level of HIV in the body too low to detect. Studying patients w...
Short-term therapy may reduce the amount of HIV in the blood of adults recently infected with HIV. The purpose of this study is to see whether it is better for people to take a short cours...
New and recently EMA/FDA approved direct acting antiviral (DAA) combination therapies cure 95% or more of the patients chronically infected with HCV genotype 1 and 4. Grazoprevir (MK-5172)...
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of a 12-week treatment regimen of simeprevir in combination with daclatasvir in chronic Hepatitis (inflammation of the liver) C virus...
Any infection acquired in the community, that is, contrasted with those acquired in a health care facility (CROSS INFECTION). An infection would be classified as community-acquired if the patient had not recently been in a health care facility or been in contact with someone who had been recently in a health care facility.
A complex of cyclic peptide antibiotics produced by the Tracy-I strain of Bacillus subtilis. The commercial preparation is a mixture of at least nine bacitracins with bacitracin A as the major constituent. It is used topically to treat open infections such as infected eczema and infected dermal ulcers. (From Goodman and Gilman, The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, 8th ed, p1140)
Detection of drugs that have been abused, overused, or misused, including legal and illegal drugs. Urine screening is the usual method of detection.
Inflammation of brain parenchymal tissue as a result of viral infection. Encephalitis may occur as primary or secondary manifestation of TOGAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; HERPESVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; ADENOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; FLAVIVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; BUNYAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; PICORNAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; PARAMYXOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; ORTHOMYXOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; RETROVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; and ARENAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS.
Viral infections of the leptomeninges and subarachnoid space. TOGAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; FLAVIVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; RUBELLA; BUNYAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; ORBIVIRUS infections; PICORNAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; ORTHOMYXOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; RHABDOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; ARENAVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; HERPESVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; ADENOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS; JC VIRUS infections; and RETROVIRIDAE INFECTIONS may cause this form of meningitis. Clinical manifestations include fever, headache, neck pain, vomiting, PHOTOPHOBIA, and signs of meningeal irritation. (From Joynt, Clinical Neurology, 1996, Ch26, pp1-3)
DNA sequencing is the process of determining the precise order of nucleotides within a DNA molecule. During DNA sequencing, the bases of a small fragment of DNA are sequentially identified from signals emitted as each fragment is re-synthesized from a ...
