Summary of "Early change of prefrontal theta cordance and occipital alpha asymmetry in the prediction of responses to antidepressants."

The study evaluated the effectiveness of EEG alpha 1, alpha 2 and theta power, along with prefrontal theta cordance (PFC), frontal and occipital alpha 1, alpha 2 asymmetry (FAA1/2, OAA1/2) at baseline and their changes at week 1 in predicting response to antidepressants.

Modulating Neural Oscillations by Transcranial Static Magnetic Field Stimulation of the Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex: A crossover, double-blind, sham-controlled pilot study.

Transcranial static magnetic field stimulation (tSMS) is a novel non-invasive brain stimulation technique that has been shown to locally increase alpha power in the parietal and occipital cortex. We i...

Frontal alpha asymmetry moderates the relations between behavioral inhibition and social-effect ERN.

Behavioral inhibition (BI) is an early temperamental precursor of anxiety disorders, characterized by withdrawal from novel situations. Some but not all young children with BI go on to display anxiety...

Beyond frontal alpha: investigating hemispheric asymmetries over the EEG frequency spectrum as a function of sex and handedness.

Frontal alpha EEG asymmetry, an indirect marker of asymmetries in relative frontal brain activity, are widely used in research on lateralization of emotional processing. While most authors focus on fr...

Eye fixation-related fronto-parietal neural network correlates of memory retrieval.

Eye movements are considered to be informative with regard to the underlying cognitive processes of human beings. Previous studies have reported that eye movements are associated with which scientific...

Individual EEG alpha profiles are gender-dependent and indicate subjective experiences in whole-body perceptual deprivation.

We use a unique environment of Whole Body Perceptual Deprivation (WBPD) to induce an altered state of consciousness (ASC) in our participants, and employ online EEG recording. We present individual EE...

Modulation of Cognitive Control Signals in Prefrontal Cortex by Rhythmic Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Purpose: In this study, the investigators will provide causal evidence for the role of alpha and theta oscillations in cognitive control. Participants: Participants must be healthy, betwe...

EEG Alpha/Theta Neurofeedback to Reduce Trait Anxiety

This study evaluates if individuals with moderate to high trait anxiety can learn how to self-regulate their brain waves and reduce their trait anxiety in ten sessions of EEG alpha-theta n...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Members of the alpha-globin family. In humans, they are encoded in a gene cluster on CHROMOSOME 16. They include zeta-globin and alpha-globin. There are also pseudogenes of zeta (theta-zeta) and alpha (theta-alpha) in the cluster. Adult HEMOGLOBIN is comprised of 2 alpha-globin chains and 2 beta-globin chains.

Congenital or acquired asymmetry of the face.

The rostral part of the frontal lobe, bounded by the inferior precentral fissure in humans, which receives projection fibers from the mediodorsal nucleus of the thalamus. The prefrontal cortex receives afferent fibers from numerous structures of the diencephalon, mesencephalon, and limbic system as well as cortical afferents of visual, auditory, and somatic origin.

The point of articulation between the OCCIPITAL BONE and the CERVICAL ATLAS.

A developmental deformity of the occipital bone and upper end of the cervical spine, in which the latter appears to have pushed the floor of the occipital bone upward. (Dorland, 27th ed)
