Autoimmune hemolytic anemia. Review of 43 cases.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is an uncommon disease. In its presentation, it can be severe and even lethal. There is only one clinical report concerning this pathology in Chile.

Splenectomy and the incidence of venous thromboembolism and sepsis in patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia.

The impact of splenectomy on venous thrombosis (VTE), abdominal thrombosis (abVTE) and sepsis in autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is unclear.

Hemolytic anemia, spherocytosis, and thrombocytopenia associated with honey bee envenomation in a dog.

This case report describes a massive honey bee envenomation in a 14-month-old male Belgian Malinois dog from St. Kitts, West Indies. Acute and delayed onsets of hemolytic anemia, echinocytosis, sphero...

Common variable immune deficiency: case studies.

Common variable immune deficiency (CVID) is one of the most common congenital immune defects encountered in clinical practice. The condition occurs equally in males and females, and most commonly in t...

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia in hospitalized patients: 450 patients and their red blood cell transfusions.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a rare disease in which autoantibodies target red blood cells (RBCs), leading to anemia that ranges from no symptoms to severe life-threatening hemolysis. Little ...

Study the Role of T Lymphocytes in Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia

T follicular helper lymphocytes are involved in the pathophysiology of autoimmune diseases. In humans, an increase in the proportion of circulating follicular helper T lymphocytes is obser...

This is a Phase 2 randomized, dose-blind, multicenter study designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, efficacy, Pharmacokinetics (PK), and Pharmacodynamics (PD) of treatment with KZR-...

Single-dose Anti-CD20 Antibody With Bortezomib for Relapsed Refractory Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia

Patients of relapsed and refractory warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia or EVANS syndrome aged 18 to 80 will be included in this study. The treatment regimen is a single dose anti-CD20 antibo...

This study is being conducted to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD), immunogenicity, and effects on warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (WAIHA) di...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A syndrome that is associated with microvascular diseases of the KIDNEY, such as RENAL CORTICAL NECROSIS. It is characterized by hemolytic anemia (ANEMIA, HEMOLYTIC); THROMBOCYTOPENIA; and ACUTE RENAL FAILURE.

Acquired hemolytic anemia due to the presence of AUTOANTIBODIES which agglutinate or lyse the patient's own RED BLOOD CELLS.

Hemolytic anemia due to various intrinsic defects of the erythrocyte.

Hemagglutination test in which Coombs' reagent (antiglobulin, or anti-human globulin rabbit immune serum) is added to detect incomplete (non-agglutinating, univalent, blocking) antibodies coating erythrocytes. The direct test is applied to red cells which have been coated with antibody in vivo (e.g., in hemolytic disease of newborn, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, and transfusion reactions). The indirect test is applied to serum to detect the presence of antibody (e.g., in detection of incompatibility in cross-matching tests, detection and identification of irregular antibodies, and in detection of antibodies not identifiable by other means).

Rapidly growing vascular lesion along the midline axis of the neck, upper trunk, and extremities that is characterized by CONSUMPTION COAGULOPATHY; THROMBOCYTOPENIA; and HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA. It is often associated with infantile Kaposiform HEMANGIOENDOTHELIOMA and other vascular tumors such as tufted ANGIOMA.
