Sri Lanka is a country where the molecular epidemiology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) is poorly explored. Therefore, this study was performed to identify circulating lineages/sub lineages of MTB and their transmission patterns.
This article was published in the following journal.
Evaluation of the genetic diversity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) and determining if the association between a specific genotype and the site of infection is crucial. Accordingly, the current s...
Molecular typing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) isolates can inform Tuberculosis (TB) control programs on the relative proportion of transmission driving the TB epidemic. There is limited data o...
Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the major public health problems in Ethiopia. Data on genetic diversity and resistance profile of circulating TB strains is critical for informing the national TB control p...
Lebanon hosts a heterogeneous population coming from underdeveloped and developing countries, resulting in increasing incidences of tuberculosis over the past years. The genetic heterogeneity and line...
Human tuberculosis (TB) is caused by seven phylogenetic lineages of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC), Lineage 1-7. Recent advances in rapid genotyping of MTBC based on single nucleotide p...
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Mycobacterium w in new lung tuberculosis patients. Mycobacterium w is a strain of bacterium which is being used as vaccin...
The purpose of the study is to study the efficacy and safety of Mycobacterium in treating patients with lung tuberculosis . Mycobacterium is a strain of bacterium which is used as a vaccin...
This study will assess the safety and immunogenicity of 2 different formulations of tuberculosis vaccine GSK692342 in healthy adults.
The purpose of this study is to assess lung immune responses in patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and in healthy control persons who are exposed to Mycobacterium tuberculosi...
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection puts people at risk of opportunistic infections, such as tuberculosis. In Africa and India, the HIV epidemic has resulted in an increase in the...
The dormant form of TUBERCULOSIS where the person shows no obvious symptoms and no sign of the causative agent (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) in the SPUTUM despite being positive for tuberculosis infection skin test.
Tuberculosis of the brain, spinal cord, or meninges (TUBERCULOSIS, MENINGEAL), most often caused by MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS and rarely by MYCOBACTERIUM BOVIS. The infection may be limited to the nervous system or coexist in other organs (e.g., TUBERCULOSIS, PULMONARY). The organism tends to seed the meninges causing a diffuse meningitis and leads to the formation of TUBERCULOMA, which may occur within the brain, spinal cord, or perimeningeal spaces. Tuberculous involvement of the vertebral column (TUBERCULOSIS, SPINAL) may result in nerve root or spinal cord compression. (From Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, pp717-20)
Infection of the LIVER with species of MYCOBACTERIUM, most often MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS. It is characterized by localized small tuberculous miliary lesions or tumor-like mass (TUBERCULOMA), and abnormalities in liver function tests.
Infection of the ENDOCRINE GLANDS with species of MYCOBACTERIUM, most often MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS.
Pathological conditions of the CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM caused by infection of MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS. Tuberculosis involvement may include the HEART; the BLOOD VESSELS; or the PERICARDIUM.

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by bacteria belonging to the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. Over nine million new cases of TB, and nearly two million deaths from TB, are estimated to occur around the world every year, and new inf...
