A time domain study of surfactin penetrating a phospholipid monolayer at the air-water Interface investigated using sum frequency generation spectroscopy, infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy, and AFM-nano infrared microscopy.

We have investigated the interaction of surfactin with a monolayer of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) at the air-water interface as a function of time, following its injection into ...

Novel electrochemical sensor based on molecularly imprinted polymer for selective recognition of sesquiterpene β-caryophyllene.

Molecularly imprinted polymers provide an excellent platform for the modification of selective electrodes for sensing applications. Herein, we present a novel modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) wit...

The physiological determinants of near-infrared spectroscopy-derived regional cerebral oxygenation in critically ill adults.

To maintain adequate oxygen delivery to tissue, resuscitation of critically ill patients is guided by assessing surrogate markers of perfusion. As there is no direct indicator of cerebral perfusion us...

Rapid, one-pot, protein-mediated green synthesis of water-soluble fluorescent nickel nanoclusters for sensitive and selective detection of tartrazine.

In the work, water-soluble bovine serum albumin-protected fluorescent nickel nanoclusters (BSA-NiNCs) are used as fluorescent probes to construct a label-free fluorescence quenching sensor for sensiti...

Dissatisfaction After Trifocal IOL Implantation and Its Improvement by Selective Wavefront-Guided LASIK.

To evaluate a substantially improved wavefront acquisition technique (Peramis; SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions, Kleinostheim, Germany) for selective wavefront-guided aberration correction to improve satisf...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A noninvasive technique that uses the differential absorption properties of hemoglobin and myoglobin to evaluate tissue oxygenation and indirectly can measure regional hemodynamics and blood flow. Near-infrared light (NIR) can propagate through tissues and at particular wavelengths is differentially absorbed by oxygenated vs. deoxygenated forms of hemoglobin and myoglobin. Illumination of intact tissue with NIR allows qualitative assessment of changes in the tissue concentration of these molecules. The analysis is also used to determine body composition.

A spectroscopic technique in which a range of wavelengths is presented simultaneously with an interferometer and the spectrum is mathematically derived from the pattern thus obtained.

Measurement of the regional temperature of the body or an organ by infrared sensing devices, based on self-emanating infrared radiation.

Spectroscopy technique which measures changes in organic compounds by tracking the spectral energy of absorption of HYDROGEN atoms.

That portion of the electromagnetic spectrum usually sensed as heat. Infrared wavelengths are longer than those of visible light, extending into the microwave frequencies. They are used therapeutically as heat, and also to warm food in restaurants.
